Popular WWE team to push for their first tag team title shot against Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes? Exploring potential swerve

Undisputed Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso have issued an Open Challenge for tonight's episode of WWE SmackDown.

This week's show will air live from the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and will feature the fallout from WWE Fastlane this past Saturday night. Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso shocked the wrestling world by defeating The Judgment Day's Finn Balor and Damian Priest to capture the Undisputed Tag Team Championships at the premium live event.

Jey Uso was a part of The Bloodline until his brother, Jimmy Uso, betrayed him during his Tribal Combat match against Roman Reigns at SummerSlam. At Payback, The American Nightmare announced Jey Uso would be coming to RAW during an appearance on The Grayson Waller Effect at Payback last month.

Austin Theory and Grayson Waller both have incredibly bright futures in the company. At WrestleMania 39, Theory defeated John Cena to retain the United States Championship. Unfortunately, the match didn't lead to a lot of momentum for the young star, and he has since dropped the title to Rey Mysterio.

Grayson Waller has knocked it out of the park so far on the main roster and has recently been paired up with Austin Theory on the Blue brand. The duo could accept the Open Challenge on SmackDown and even win the Undisputed Tag Team Championships. Theory and Waller winning the titles would be a great way to establish two young stars as a viable threat on WWE SmackDown moving forward.

Cody Rhodes praises Jey Uso for his connection with the WWE Universe

Cody Rhodes praised Jey Uso for the bond he has with the fans following their unlikely title win at Fastlane.

Speaking at the press conference following the premium live event, Cody Rhodes noted that WWE is currently in its most successful era, and it is a privilege to be a part of it. The 38-year-old then complimented his tag team partner and pointed out the incredible reaction he received from the fans in Indianapolis during his entrance at Fastlane.

"Let's go, let's do this together. Again, we have the privilege of saying this is the most successful era in the history of WWE. This is the same company that had the Attitude Era, but it's us. So I welcome it all, and seeing him go out there tonight [Jey Uso], seeing his entrance the first thing on the show, seeing people responding to him, what it does when you come out is it makes me go, 'We got it.'" The Judgment Day is set to challenge for the Undisputed Tag Team Championships this Monday night on RAW. It will be interesting to see if Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso are still the champions following tonight's WWE SmackDown.
