Ranking Brock Lesnar's 5 WrestleMania matches since his return

Brock dismantles his opposition

Brock Lesnar is one of the scariest dudes in the history of professional wrestling, and there's really no getting around that. He's an absolute monster of a human being, and it's no exaggeration to suggest that he may well have eaten a man or two in his day. As the Universal Champion, there may well be nobody who can stop this guy - both in and out of kayfabe.

Despite that, Brock is pretty inconsistent when it comes to the quality of his WrestleMania matches. During his initial run with the company he fought Kurt Angle in the main event of WrestleMania 19 which was a solid enough bout, however, twelve months later he followed up that war with a truly abysmal match against Goldberg.

As we all know he's since blown that effort out of the water, but we'll get to that. Brock is a 'special attraction' wrestler meaning that we should probably be treated to the highest calibre of matches at the showcase of the immortals, but as you'll see as we progress throughout this list that isn't always the case.

So with that all being said, it's time to rank Brock Lesnar's five WrestleMania matches since returning.

#5 Brock Lesnar vs. Dean Ambrose

dean
Stop, stop – he’s already dead!

This match just wasn't very good, and that's a huge, huge shame. As we all know by now, Dean Ambrose has commented on the bout, stating that he felt Lesnar was being lazy and dragging his feet when it came to planning out the big spots of the match. In all honesty, we aren't too surprised by that.

Lesnar was likely in training for his UFC 200 return at this point; and by comparison, the Ambrose match probably didn't mean all that much to him. It was barely a step up from a squash and Dean deserved better, especially considering how hard he'd worked to improve his character since the previous WrestleMania.

Dead man walking.

#4 Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker

taker
Say it isn’t so..

Straight off the bat, we'll admit that Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker at WrestleMania 30 just wasn't very good. Taker reportedly suffered a concussion in the early stages of the contest; and from that point on, it was a pretty disappointing affair, which is what everyone had feared for years heading into the long-awaited rematch.

The fact that the streak was ended brings this up to a much higher level, as people will be going back to watch this match for many years to come - which is something that can't be said for the Ambrose effort at WrestleMania 32. They'd go on to have a few barnstormers at SummerSlam 2015 and Hell In A Cell 2015, which makes this match a "what could have been" occasion.

It's time to play the game.

#3 Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H

hhh
Go away, Hunter

In case you'd forgotten, Triple H defeated Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 29 in a career threatening match. Yup, that happened. The King of Kings avenged his best friend Shawn Michaels and his father in law Vince McMahon, both of whom had suffered at the hands of the Beast Incarnate in the months prior to the MetLife Stadium showdown.

It was a logical build, but that doesn't gloss over the fact that this feud went on for nearly an entire year, which is ridiculous considering how many younger stars would have benefited from working with Lesnar during this period of time. It was a fun enough match, but it suffered from the open air stadium which made it sound like there wasn't much of a fan response to the action.

It's redemption time.

#2 Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg

goldberg
This one certainly exceeded expectations

Nobody, and we mean nobody, gave Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg at WrestleMania 33 a chance prior to the match and that's a shame. The two men had been building their rivalry for months following Goldberg's shock victory over Brock at Survivor Series, with many fans believing that the Beast would squash Goldberg on his way to becoming the Universal Champion.

Instead, what we got was a five-minute war in which both men threw everything they had at the other. It was unlimited finishers city as spears and suplexes were being thrown around left, right and centre, with Brock eventually gaining the upper hand and gaining his retribution once and for all. It was a fun match, and that's all you could have really asked for.

We all knew this was coming.

#1 Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins

brock
These guys stole the show

Much like the Goldberg entry, nobody thought that Lesnar vs. Reigns at WrestleMania 31 had a chance of succeeding. Reigns was still pretty green at this point, and nobody was sure as to whether or not Brock was capable of carrying a match like this on his own. As it turns out, we were treated to one of the most shocking Mania success stories of recent times.

Reigns and Lesnar hit each other with everything they had, and Roman fought back from the edge of defeat to nearly topple the Beast. Then, Seth Rollins finally cashed in his Money in the Bank contract before pinning Reigns and becoming the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Wow. Just wow.
