Welcome to this week's edition of a stacked RAW Preview. WWE has announced a lot of matches and segments for tonight as we're just weeks away from Bad Blood 2024.
But considering how the new WWE regime doesn't like to add too many matches to non-big four premium live events, it wouldn't be surprising if only Sami Zayn vs. Gunther became official. Even that's not guaranteed.
Apart from Sami Zayn pursuing the World Heavyweight Championship from a stubborn Gunther, we'll see the fallout of The Wyatt Sicks vs. American Made feud as the former won a great Street Fight last week. Rhea Ripley vs. Liv Morgan is official and the Women's World Championship will be on the line in Bad Blood - so expect to see a big segment building up to that.
Natalya vs. Zoey Stark will be the fallout from last week's six-woman tag team match, where Lyra Valkyria, Zelina Vega, and the returning Natalya defeated the Pure Fusion Collective trio Sonya Deville, Shayna Baszler, and Zoey Stark.
Apart from just those, this is what to expect on a packed episode of RAW:
#6. Is Jey Uso headed for a collision course with Bron Breakker on RAW and not Bad Blood?
Last week on RAW, Jey Uso overcame a huge competitive Fatal Four-Way field comprised of himself, Pete Dunne, Braun Strowman, and Ilja Dragunov.
The esteemed Intercontinental Championship match was the prize and a determined Jey Uso, who has been gunning for singles gold all year, will get another opportunity.
But standing in his way is the dominant Bron Breakker. While many thought the match would happen at Bad Blood 2024, that seems unlikely. Bad Blood already has five matches, which we previously mentioned is becoming the norm for "smaller" premium live events.
Dave Meltzer reported on The Wrestling Observer Radio that Bron Breakker vs. Jey Uso for the Intercontinental Championship is expected to happen on an episode of RAW and not Bad Blood 2024.
Expect a tense interaction between the champion and challenger tonight on RAW.
#5. Damian Priest faces Dominik Mysterio in first-ever televised singles match
You would think that between SummerSlam and now, Damian Priest and Dominik Mysterio would have had a televised singles match. However, that isn't the case as Damian Priest has only faced Dominik in a post-SmackDown dark match a little over two weeks ago.
As Damian Priest gets ready for his grudge match against Finn Balor at Bad Blood 2024, he takes on Dominik Mysterio - who hasn't left Liv Morgan's side since SummerSlam.
This is going to be a big first-ever televised match, but expect the new Judgment Day to take over. Rhea Ripley is still injured and on crutches, but is expected to make it to Bad Blood. If she tries to combat the inevitable interference from Liv Morgan tonight, things could go from bad to worse for The Eradicator.
#4. The Judgment Day will defend the tag team gold against The New Day
Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods are back on track after a rough few months. Now that the Odyssey Jones saga is over, they are looking to reclaim their status as WWE's #1 tag team - something they've done successfully in the past.
The legendary duo of Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods face the World Tag Team Champions Finn Balor and JD McDonagh on RAW. There has been criticism that the World Tag Team Titles aren't being featured as much, and tonight there's a big chance to showcase why the titles need a larger spotlight.
Will Kofi and Xavier become 13-time tag team champions together? Or will they succumb to The Judgment Day?
#3. It's Fight Night for Sheamus and Pete Dunne!
Not many know this, but Pete Dunne is an extremely busy man. You might see him getting into fights with Sheamus every week on RAW, but he's also a backstage producer and has recently been going at it against Trick Williams in NXT.
He resumes his feud against The Celtic Warrior Sheamus - with the veteran thwarting Dunne and picking up the win in their recent meeting. Dunne will look to settle the score and bring Fight Night to an always-ready Sheamus on RAW.
#2. "Big" Bronson Reed and Braun Strowman run it back
"Big" Bronson Reed has been hitting Tsunamis left, right, and center on RAW. Seth Rollins was his most notable victim, but Braun Strowman took the craziest tsunami of them all.
During their August 26th match, things went haywire and ended inconclusively backstage. It all broke down and Bronson Reed had the last laugh when he hit the Tsunami on Braun Strowman - who was on top of a car.
Last week in the Fatal Four-Way main event, Bronson Reed returned after a brief bout with COVID and cost Braun Strowman by taking him out. The two will run it back and look to put a decisive finish to the epic rivalry.
#1. CM Punk is back on RAW following the Hell in a Cell announcement
CM Punk, when asked by a reporter after Clash at the Castle 2024, completely shot down the idea of his first singles match back being a Hell in a Cell match. He didn't seem too keen on the idea, but he will be stepping into hell after a very long time.
As of this writing before the 16th September episode of RAW, Punk hasn't been in a Hell in a Cell match in 4,341 days. The last time he competed inside Hell in a Cell was on October 28th, 2012, against Ryback.
He will hope to recreate the winning result. After Bash in Berlin, CM Punk looked to put Drew McIntyre in the rearview mirror. But The Scottish Warrior apparently had other ideas and viciously attacked his rival before destroying his prized bracelet.
The Second City Saint returns tonight on RAW to respond to the Hell in a Cell announcement made by Adam Pearce. What will we have to say?
