- It’s interesting that at one point WWE looked down on wrestlers that were stars on the independent scene. Now a large percentage of their champions made their names in companies like Ring of Honor
NXT champ Kevin Owens, Tag champ Cesaro, IC champ Daniel Bryan, and WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, all made their names in ROH and other independent promotions before coming through developmental. WWE have also licensed lots of footage from ROH for their various DVD/Network releases that feature former ROH stars.
