Roman Reigns has been in the headlines since his massive loss against Seth Rollins in a triple-threat match at WrestleMania 41. The former Undisputed WWE Champion has not been in action since then and was written off TV on RAW after the Showcase of the Immortals, making full use of his part-time schedule.

The Tribal Chief has been on the same schedule for years now, appearing only to compete on select premium live events, which was the reason his reign as the Undisputed WWE Champion was so long, yet without many title defenses. Despite such a part-time schedule, Roman Reigns is one of the highest-paid stars in the industry, which is quite surprising as well.

However, Roman Reigns’ contract—or at least his current pay—is reportedly in jeopardy lately. TKO has been cutting its costs over the past few weeks, which led to R-Truth and Carlito’s surprising releases from the company. Reports now claim that TKO isn’t very happy to pay Reigns at this rate considering his part-time schedule, raising speculations of a contract renegotiation.

With the speculation and reports making rounds on the internet, Triple H could give Reigns a massive ultimatum, which could leave the world stunned. The Game, following orders from TKO, could ask Roman Reigns to return on a given date and stay in action regularly for at least six months to avoid any cut in his pay and any changes to his contract.

This could make the Tribal Chief furious and even potentially lead to him quitting the company or hanging up his boots altogether, given that the star might not have a lot of matches left in him. Rather than heading to a new promotion, Reigns could announce his retirement and quit WWE to focus on his health and his family.

Will TKO renegotiate Roman Reigns’ current contract?

During an appearance on Lucha Libre Online, Spanish commentator Hugo Savinovich addressed Reigns’ current contract and pointed out the possibility of the OTC's contract getting renegotiated amid TKO’s recent cost cuts.

“While they won’t outright release him, he won’t be making $15 million per year anymore...Now, why $15 million? Let me break it down. Roman Reigns’ base salary is $5 million. But then there are add-ons… And TKO? They’re cutting costs across the board. We’ve seen recent releases, and there are rumors of more. Remember when Nick Khan—a major WWE exec—announced he was selling $4 million worth of stock? That raised eyebrows. TKO is saying: Roman’s not around full-time. Why are we paying him so much? So, they want to renegotiate.” (H/T - Ringside News)

While this raises speculations of Reigns’ contract getting renegotiated sometime in the future, it is hard to believe that the Tribal Chief would agree to the scenario. Rather, Reigns would take the massive name that he has elsewhere to get paid at the same level. Time will tell what WWE has in store for the star next.
