WWE RAW this past Monday ended on a shocking note as Jey Uso's World Heavyweight Championship reign came to an end. A new report has now revealed the reason behind Triple H's decision to book a title change on weekly TV.

Jey Uso won the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 41, where he made Gunther tap out. However, the former Bloodline member did not have the title reign he would have hoped for, as he lost the gold to the Ring General in a rematch on RAW this week. The duo is slated for another match on July 11. However, that is likely to be a dark match, where title changes rarely occur.

Dave Meltzer provided the reason behind Triple H's decision-making on the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Meltzer noted that Hunter decided to put the World Heavyweight Championship on Gunther because he wanted to book The Ring General vs. Goldberg for Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12 as a title match.

Gunther could undergo a character change after beating Jey Uso, WWE analyst feels

Gunther reclaimed the World Heavyweight Championship on RAW as he made Jey Uso pass out after putting him in a chokehold. With the feud between the two seemingly over, fans have been wondering what's next for the Ring General.

WWE analyst Sam Roberts believes that a character change may be on the cards:

"I wouldn’t be surprised if, before this title reign is over, Gunther is a babyface. I think he is headed towards babyface territory. The beauty and integrity of the Gunther character is that he really doesn’t have to change a thing. He just fights different people, and now he’s a babyface."

With Goldberg set to return to WWE for a final run, he will likely be crossing paths with Gunther. The two men were involved in an altercation at Bad Blood 2024, which started the feud between them. The Ring General is likely to be Goldberg's final opponent.
