Ryback - New WWE Champion? Or not?

Is Ryback ready to lay his hands on Championship gold? Is he going to be the next WWE Champion? Is the reign of thirteen time WWE champion John Cena finally coming to an end?

These questions keep playing in our minds as Payback gets close. The pressure is immense. Payback has replaced “No Way Out” and promises to be one of the most exciting events in the list of PPVs of WWE. This is one event we’re all eagerly looking forward to; the one which might just topple us off our chairs. But this time, it comes with vengeance as well.

Ryback, who has been cost the WWE championship umpteen number of times by The Shield, now turns his attention to the one man who stands between him, and as he calls it “his WWE Championship”.

But is he really ready to have the gold around his waist?

When he made his first couple of appearances, he took the WWE by storm. We only saw glimpses of his brilliant form as he trod over his opponents. His losses were majorly attributed to interference by The Shield and that affected his mindset a lot.

He challenged Cena to an ambulance match, but the latter upgraded it to a three stages of a Hell Match and that obviously did not go down well with our contender. For every match of his, he’s entered the arena in the back of an ambulance, sending out signals to Cena that’s where he wants him to end up.

One might even question his aggressiveness, for after insulting legends like Mick Foley and Bret Hart, he’s lost tremendous respect in the locker room. And these aren’t the signs of an ideal WWE Champion.

John Cena, on the other hand, seems to have handled being a WWE champion really well every time he’s won it in the last ten years of his career. He’s had some bad times, but he’s always recovered well. Cena’s been booed and hissed at, but he’s never lost his faith in the WWE Universe. Countless number of people wear his own t-shirts and hiss at him, but the WWE Champion knows how to take these shortcomings in his stride.

But the question still remains. Is Ryback ready to take on the responsibility of becoming the new WWE Champion?

I’d say no. Not yet.

He’s been on a pretty mean streak lately, showing no signs of being able to accept defeat. This defeat at Payback would be a lesson for him to be able to accept defeat gracefully and work towards being the WWE Champion. Ambushing the champ from the back and taking advantage of the situation to be named number One Contender isn’t going to get him real far. Ryback needs to cool down and earn his way to the top. Grabbing onto the champ’s pants will not get him there.
