SummerSlam 2020: 5 possible finishes to ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt vs Braun Strowman for the Universal Championship

WWE could have a huge swerve planned for the match

At the upcoming SummerSlam 2020 pay-per-view, Braun Strowman will put his Universal Championship on the line in a ‘False Count Anywhere’ match against ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt. This will be the final match of the rumored trilogy that WWE planned for both the Superstars and it could end in a lot of different ways.

Interestingly, their feud now also involves WWE SmackDown Superstar Alexa Bliss. She has a long-standing history with Braun Strowman, and their relationship was often perceived as unbreakable until recently. The surprising turn of events saw her get better treatment from The Fiend as compared to Strowman, who literally lifted and threw her face-first into the apron last week on SmackDown.

In this article, we will take a look at five possible finishes for the Universal Championship match at SummerSlam. So, without further ado, let’s begin.

#5 ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt wins the Universal Championship

WWE Superstar ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt quickly rose to prominence, owing to the mystique surrounding his gimmick. In fact, Seth Rollins retaining his Universal Championship last year at Hell in a Cell received so much backlash that WWE were forced to put the title on The Fiend and turn The Architect heel. Then, rather shockingly, he lost his Universal Championship to Goldberg at Super ShowDown earlier this year.

The Fiend’s controversial loss to Goldberg also resulted in his character losing a lot of momentum. But the hopes of fans rose once again when Braun Strowman won the title, and a feud was teased between him and 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt. The two Superstars have locked horns in one title match before that ended with Strowman winning the match. However, it is important to note that their previous title match featured Bray Wyatt and not his Fiend persona.

It was reported earlier that WWE had a plan in place to book a long-term feud between Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman. And, it appeared that Bray Wyatt would walk out of the final match between the two Superstars with the Universal Championship. Two out of three matches have already taken place, and it now makes sense to have the former champion reclaim his title at SummerSlam.

Moreover, the last episode of SmackDown saw Braun Strowman brutalize Bray Wyatt inside the Firefly Fun House, so much so that the latter had to be taken away in an ambulance. However, the vehicle stopped midway as it was The Fiend who walked out of the ambulance. This could be WWE’s way of foreshadowing what’s in store for the Universal Championship match at SummerSlam 2020

#4 Braun Strowman beats 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt to retain his title

Braun Strowman's Universal Championship reign kickstarted at WrestleMania after he replaced Roman Reigns in the title match against Goldberg. His victory was well-received, and it was expected that he would finally have a Championship reign that he deserved. However, Strowman went on to have an uneventful run on the Blue brand, with his most compelling feud coming against 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt.

It seems less likely, but it is still possible that WWE would keep the title on Braun Strowman. However, it would indeed be shocking if he manages to beat The Fiend in a clean manner. Moreover, given the manner in which Strowman's title reign has been booked so far, it doesn't look like WWE have big plans for The Monster Among Men.

However, one can argue that Strowman has been particularly strong in his altercations with 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt. The latter's mind games have not worked that well on Strowman, and the champion has always been able to retaliate pretty well. This booking, albeit interesting, doesn't look that promising on the paper.

#3 ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt tricks Braun Strowman to seal a victory

As noted previously in the article, everything that ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt has tried in order to manipulate Braun Strowman has resulted in failure. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have any other tricks up his sleeve. Between their personal history and the stuff that they have unearthed in the recent past, Bray certainly has a lot of ammunition to turn things in his favor.

Since it’s a ‘Falls Count Anywhere’ match, we could see The Fiend lead Braun Strowman to places that will make the champion uncomfortable. The last episode of SmackDown saw Strowman invade the Firefly Fun House and brutalize Bray Wyatt. However, soon after that, WWE tweeted out a post captioned ‘What happened the last time when someone entered the Firefly Fun House?’.

This, of course, was the reference to the incident from last year when Seth Rollins attacked Bray Wyatt and set his house on fire, and we all know how that ended. Being one of the few Superstars who desperately need a win at the PPV, The Fiend will look to make use of a territory that’s unfamiliar to Braun Strowman in order to win back his title without making his opponent look too weak.

#2 Braun Strowman turns heel and uses a low blow to conquer ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt

The history has proven that anyone who has come in contact with ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt has never been the same. Be it Finn Balor or Seth Rollins, they all ended up embracing their dark side. Therefore, it shouldn’t be a surprise if the same thing happened with Braun Strowman at SummerSlam 2020.

The champion has already shown signs of an imminent heel turn in the weeks leading up to the PPV. First, he attacked Alexa Bliss and most recently, he unleashed his wrath on SmackDown Superstars when he got annoyed by RETRIBUTION. There have been noticeable changes in Strowman’s personality, ever since he was dragged down the Wyatt swamp.

If things don’t work out in favor of the champion tomorrow night, he could rely on some sinister techniques to ensure that he retains his title. He could hit The Fiend with a low blow to lay the groundwork for the final pinfall. It would indeed be interesting to see how a heel Braun Strowman would carry the Universal Championship on SmackDown.

#1 Alexa Bliss helps ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt against Braun Strowman

Having SmackDown Superstar Alexa Bliss interfere in this match as Sister Abigail is probably one of the best ways in which WWE can book the Universal Championship match between ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman. She was abandoned, attacked, and betrayed within a span of two weeks and then surprisingly found herself being gentle to The Fiend.

After being attacked by Bray Wyatt initially, she hoped that Braun Strowman would avenge her. Instead, the Champion said that he doesn’t care. Later, she tried to get some answers from her former friend, but ended up getting attacked by him. Following that, Bliss found herself next to The Fiend as the segment teased a possible alliance between the two.

When WWE first teased the concept of Alexa Bliss as Sister Abigail during the Wyatt Swamp Fight, the WWE Universe went wild on Twitter. It is evident that everyone loved the concept, and it wouldn’t be far-fetched to predict that she will play a huge role in the upcoming title match. After all, she Alexa Bliss has always been flawless with her gimmicks, especially when she is a heel.
