WWE SummerSlam has seen several historic and memorable events throughout the years. Surprise returns, unexpected debuts, betrayals, and more have taken place during The Biggest Party of the Summer, among them featuring the biggest wrestling dream matches. Although one of the biggest wrestling sayings is "never say never," a few dream matches are impossible.
A recent interview with IGN featured many current superstars who were asked who their dream opponent is for WWE SummerSlam. While some are more possible, like Bianca Belair vs. Jade Cargill, Damian Priest vs. Finn Balor, and Trick Williams vs. Gunther, some will only remain in the dreams of some superstars.
For this list, we will look at some of the WWE SummerSlam dream matches from superstars that won't happen.
#3. The Rock vs. R-Truth might be impossible due to the limited schedule
R-Truth (54-time 24/7 Champion, two-time Hardcore Champion, two-time World Tag Team Champion, and two-time United States Champion) and The Rock have been around the wrestling business for a while. While the former stayed in WWE, the latter ventured into acting and Hollywood. Although they are no strangers to each other, facing each other in 2011 for a tag team match, time constraints, and Dwayne Johnson's schedule might be an issue.
Although The Rock became a bit more active in WWE earlier this year, it looks like he will only be in limited schedules and will only wrestle a few more stars before officially retiring. From the looks of it, he is more focused on The Bloodline's story and it would be a bit difficult for R-Truth to be squeezed in.
#2. Carmelo Hayes named his idol Eddie Guerrero as his dream WWE SummerSlam opponent
Carmelo Hayes is just one of the current stars who looks up to the late Eddie Guerrero, and the SmackDown star is also one of those who wanted to face his mentor inside the ring.
Like the late star, Hayes also has a brash and cocky attitude and a natural aura, something that would have been entertaining to watch during promo segments and matches. Although the former NXT Champion still has a long way to go in terms of being on the same level as Eddie, his recent performances show that he is on the right track to becoming this generation's Eddie Guerrero.
#1. Tommaso Ciampa names Bret Hart as his dream WWE SummerSlam match
Just like Carmelo Hayes, Tommaso Ciampa named his idol Bret Hart as his dream opponent for SummerSlam. Although both men have different characters and wrestling styles, it would be a must-watch.
While The Hitman is more of a technical wrestler, Ciampa focuses on being hard-hitting and intense. The former also mostly plays the hero while the latter ventures more into the darker side of his character. Still, both men are good storytellers and can easily engage fans. However, Bret has already retired from in-ring competition.
