Triple H to cancel blockbuster WWE Night of Champions match at Dominik Mysterio’s request? Exploring the possibility

WWE Night of Champions 2025 is on the horizon, and the excitement among fans has been off the charts lately. The show is set to emanate from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and some of the biggest names in the industry are set to be present during the festivities.

Among the numerous matches confirmed for the premium live event, a massive title match was added to the card on RAW this week. AJ Styles is set to challenge Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship at the premium live event, which has the potential to steal the spotlight.

However, Mysterio would not want to put his title on the line for the sake of keeping the gold to himself. This is the reason he could request the General Manager of RAW, Adam Pearce, to cancel the match, for a very valid reason.

Mysterio’s girlfriend, Liv Morgan, got injured during this week’s episode of the red brand. It was later revealed that the former Women’s World Champion suffered a dislocated shoulder during her match with Kairi Sane, which will keep her out of action for some time. Dominik Mysterio could use Morgan’s injury to get out of the title clash at Night of Champions.

Mysterio could ask Pearce to cancel the match because of his girlfriend’s injury, which is turning his focus away from the bout. This could lead to Triple H deciding to cancel the match and asking Pearce to remove it from the Night of Champions card.

This would not only enhance Dominik Mysterio as a heel but also add more engagement to AJ Styles’ run if he wins the Intercontinental Championship in the future.

WWE legend Jim Cornette addressed Mysterio’s success and position in the company a couple of months ago during an episode of his Jim Cornette’s Drive-Thru podcast. The veteran heaped praise on the Intercontinental Champion:

"No, not really. He was just so bland and lumpy. He was just kind of hanging around there. But as he—you know, going to prison for that stretch, where he did some boarding with the warden and lived on the bounty of the county, that grew him up.
