What is the WWE wellness policy and list of wrestlers who have violated the same

What is the WWE Wellness Policy all about?

“Wellness Policy” are the two words which you might’ve seen from time and time again. People have been suspended for violating it. So, what is exactly the Wellness Policy? The WWE Wellness Program is a daily drug test which is to be carried out on all the WWE Superstars randomly. The test can detect the abuse of prescription medications, performance-enhancement drugs, and illegal recreational drugs. Since many years pro-Wrestling has been plagued with the drug problems and thus, in 2006 WWE issued the Wellness Policy to show zero-tolerance for drug use within the company.

The Wellness program is on par with wellness programs of organizations like Major League Baseball (MLB), the National Basketball Association (NBA), and the National Football League (NFL). The drug tests are conducted by Aegis Sciences Corporation, and because of the strictness in procedures observed by the Aegis Sciences Corporation, the wrestlers cannot cheat in any way because the Aegis professionals would observe the collection of urine samples.

If found guilty for the first time, then a 30 day suspension is handed out. If the same person is again found guilty, then he is given a 60-day suspension. And if the same mistake is repeated after that then that individual’s contract is terminated. That’s the general rule of thumb. In reality WWE CEO Vince McMahon has the right to lash out the degree of punishment in the way he sees fit.

The reason for making this policy is to make sure that the company’s greatest asset, the wrestlers, stay healthy. Without the wrestler’s the WWE would not exist and thus, for the welfare of both the company and the wrestlers it is necessary to carry out these tests.
