Trish Stratus appeared on WWE RAW this week to make her match official with Becky Lynch. The two women will collide at Night of Champions this Saturday. The Quintessential Diva tried to get in her opponent’s head with mind games, but The Man brought up one of the most embarrassing moments from the Hall of Famer’s career.
Becky Lynch referenced Trish Stratus’s infamous segment with Vince McMahon on WWE RAW. For those unaware, Trish was forced to bark like a dog on national television during the buildup to WrestleMania X-7. Vince humiliated her even further by forcing her to strip. This all went down on the March 5, 2001 episode of WWF RAW is WAR.
The events that led to the infamous segment saw Vince betray Trish the previous week. The two were involved in a tag team match against Stephanie McMahon and William Regal. Trish would eventually get tired of the humiliation and get her payback during the father vs. son match at WrestleMania 17.
The WWE Hall of Famer recalled the infamous segment during a conversation at the For the Love of Wrestling convention last year. Trish Stratus said she liked the idea when it was first pitched to her by the chairman. Now, 22 years later, fans are still talking about the segment.
Trish Stratus and Becky Lynch make their match official for Night of Champions
The two women have been at war with each other ever since Trish betrayed Becky weeks ago on WWE RAW. The former multi-time women’s champion revealed she was the one behind the sneak attack that took out Lita before the Women’s Tag Team Championship match.
Becky Lynch kicked off the contract signing segment on RAW this week. The Man entered the ring and called out Trish, after which the veteran arrived and cut a promo on her soon-to-be opponent. Trish told Becky she was the one who put Becky on the pedestal.
The Man clapped back with hard-hitting words of her own. Becky also brought up Trish’s infamous segment with Vince McMahon. The two almost came to blows but Trish left the ring. They will meet at WWE Night of Champions this Saturday to settle the score.
