WWE Backlash 2020: 5 Interesting heel and face turns that could rock RAW & SmackDown

Sasha Banks and Bayley could definitely go heel or face
Sasha Banks and Bayley could definitely go heel or face

Yes, believe it or not, Backlash is in a few days and we at Sportskeeda promise to be on the ball with regard to bringing you all the WWE action, as it breaks live on our website. Be sure to check in every few hours, because we will have you covered with regard to Backlash with, well, 'the greatest wrestling coverage of all time'.

Now, could we potentially see some heel and face turns on the show, you rightfully ask and the answer, of course, is yes. Backlash 2020 could definitely have one or more of the following heel and face turns and yes, they could change the complexion of both WWE brands- RAW and SmackDown, for good.

With that said, let's have a scan across the card and see what are the potential heel and face turns that we could see at WWE Backlash.

#5 Bayley attacks Sasha Banks at Backlash, turns her babyface in doing so

There is a big chance that Sasha Banks and Bayley will lose the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships at Backlash and this may not sit well with the SmackDown Women's Champion, Bayley. And this may cause her to snap and attack her best friend- Sasha Banks, who has been constantly thrown under the bus in the lead-up to Backlash and beyond.

We all know that we are heading for a Sasha Banks vs. Bayley feud after Backlash, but the point I'm trying to make here is that one of the two women will have to turn face for the feud to really take off.

Bayley turning on Sasha Banks at Backlash will make news at once and it may change the landscape of the SmackDown women's division for good. There is literally no babyface left on SmackDown for Bayley to take on.

#4 Mandy Rose goes heel at Backlash, backstage footage with King Corbin is leaked

Even if Braun Strowman manages to overpower and take down two opponents at WWE Backlash, there is always the chance that he will be a broken down and beat up man, as a result of taking more than one competitor on. And because of this, there is always the possibility that Otis will sense that he has a chance to cash in his contract at Backlash 2020, but he could be stopped in his track with backstage footage of Mandy Rose.

Mandy Rose and King Corbin were seen in an interesting segment during the main event match of SmackDown ahead of Backlash 2020. What if Mandy Rose decides to reciprocate King Corbin's feelings and the video of this emerges when Otis is going to cash in his contract at Backlash?

This will also bring back the SmackDown hacker at Backlash, who is a character that a lot of WWE fans have missed.

Otis will gain a lot more babyface sympathy if the most beautful girl in WWE turns on him.

#3 The Miz turns on John Morrison at Backlash

I don't think that there's any chance in hell (I am borrowing the quote from a certain Vincent Kennedy McMahon) that Miz and Morrison (Hey hey, ho ho) end up as the WWE Universal Champions at Backlash. To begin with, how would it even work? Do both men become the Universal Champion at the very same time? Or does the man who scores the pin at WWE Backlash eventually wins the prized title belt?

But as entertaining as they are as a unit, I have a feeling that after Backlash, both men could go their separate ways. The Miz is a natural heel and he could definitely make things very interesting indeed by feuding with the likes of babyfaces such as Jeff Hardy while John Morrison could turn face and after Backlash, take on the likes of AJ Styles for the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

But before they do, at Backlash, after losing their match, The Miz will have to launch a vicious attack on his tag team partner- John Morrison.

#2 Lana turns face at Backlash, costs Bobby Lashley his big match

There has to be some kind of payoff to the whole Lana and Lashley angle and I have a feeling that it is going to play out in the perfect manner at WWE Backlash.

Even though Lana says that she has chosen to focus on her own career and forget about her husband, Bobby Lashley, it is very clear that she is at odds with MVP. And she could meet Bobby Lashley before the match and he could give her the cold shoulder, as he has been doing thus far, and this could potentially set up a face turn for her.

Lana doesn't need to even physically get involved in the match at Backlash to potentially turn face. All she needs to really do is show up with her loud music blaring and this could distract Lashley when he has Drew McIntyre in his hold.

Or if Bobby Lashley is especially rude to her at Backlash, she could even hit a low blow and cost him the WWE Championship.

#1 Kairi Sane turns on Asuka in the ultimate twist at Backlash 2020

I do not think that Nia Jax will be the one to dethrone Asuka, because it is far too soon in her reign to do so. But at Backlash 2020, there could be a twist that none of us saw coming and yes, it could involve Asuka's best friend- Kairi Sane.

So, let's go with the supposition that Asuka is retaining her RAW Women's Championship at Backlash, especially if you consider the amount of heat that's on Nia Jax at the moment for being unsafe in the ring. Once Asuka is done with Jax, she will need new opponents to face off with after Backlash and I do think that someone like Shayna Baszler should wait for a significantly bigger stage like SummerSlam.

So enter Kairi Sane, who could come out to celebrate with Asuka at WWE Backlash, and could mist Asuka right in the face to spark off a new feud.

This makes all the sense in the world because, with The Kabuki Warriors out of the tag team title picture, there's no reason for Asuka and Kairi Sane to remain a tag team.
