WWE Live Event Results: A Coruna (May 7th, 2017)

WWE Live event in A Coruna

The WWE live event from A Coruna, Spain saw the blue brand hold a house show featuring some of SmackDown Live’s biggest talents. SmackDown Live brought the house down and featured superstars such as Shinsuke Nakamura, The Usos, Naomi and Randy Orton.

Shinsuke Nakamura opened the event with a match against Dolph Ziggler and the main event saw Randy Orton defend his WWE title against Jinder Mahal and AJ Styles. The Usos were also in a title defence match against American Alpha and The Colons.

SmackDown Live kept their European tour rolling and put on an amazing show in Coruna for their Spanish fans. SmackDown Live’s ratings have plummeted recently, but the great show at A Coruna would have left fans happy and satisfied.


#1 Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Dolph Ziggler

The opening matchup was an interesting one featuring one of the superstars who has been under the spotlight in SmackDown Live for some time now, Shinsuke Nakamura. The heated feud between Nakamura and Ziggler continued in A Coruna. The ‘King of Strong Style’ came out on top against the ‘Show-Off’.

Result: Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Dolph Ziggler


#2 The Usos, American Alpha and The Colons in a triple threat Tag Team title match

The Usos attempted to defend their SmackDown Tag team titles against American Alpha and the Colons. The match was a highly entertaining one for the fans, thanks to the in-ring abilities of all three teams. However, it was the Usos who came out on top and retained their titles.

Result: The Usos retained over American Alpha and The Colons


#3 Luke Harper vs. Erick Rowan

The former members of the Wyatt family met face to face yet again as they continued what seems to be growing into an intense feud between the two. Luke Harper defeated his former teammate in this matchup.

Result: Luke Harper defeated Erick Rowan


#4 Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn

The two former best friends met in the ring once more and this time it was for the United States Championship. Kevin Owens successfully defended his title on his birthday as he brought the Kevin Owens Show to A Coruna. Tough luck for Sami Zayn.

Result: Kevin Owens retained over Sami Zayn


#5 Sin Cara and Breezango vs. Aiden English and The Ascension

The new #1 Contenders for the SmackDown Live tag team titles teamed up with Sin Cara to face off against Aiden English and the two men they defeated to become #1 Contenders, The Ascension. Breezango and Sin Cara came out on top in this one.

Result: Sin Cara and Breezango defeated Aiden English and The Ascension


#6 Mojo Rawley vs. Aiden English

Mojo Rawley faced off against Aiden English who had just finished his three-man tag team match against Sin Cara and Breezango. Sadly for English, he endured another loss, this time to Mojo Rawley, just moments after losing to Sin Cara and Breezango.

Result: Mojo Rawley defeated Aiden English


#7 Naomi, Natalya, Charlotte, Carmella and Becky Lynch in a Fatal Five-way match for the SmackDown Women’s title

SmackDown Women’s champion Naomi brought her A-game and successfully defeated Charlotte, Carmella, Natalya and Becky Lynch in this fatal five-way match to retain her title. Naomi has been having problems with the other women in the division, especially the newly formed ‘Welcoming Committee’, but she prevailed today though.

Result: Naomi retained over Natalya, Charlotte, Carmella and Becky Lynch


#8 Randy Orton, Jinder Mahal and AJ Styles in a Triple threat match for the WWE Championship

Randy Orton finally got his title back after Jinder Mahal stole it in one of the recent episodes of SmackDown Live. The ‘Viper’ had to defend his title against the ‘Maharaja’ and the ‘Phenomenal’ AJ Styles at the live event at A Coruna. It was an extremely entertaining main event which saw Orton come out as the victor.

Result: Randy Orton retained over AJ Styles and Jinder Mahal
