What’s the story?

John Cena has taken to social media so as to reveal a real-life confrontation he had with Seth Rollins.

Apparently, Rollins legitimately confronted Cena on an unspecified issue—something that both Cena & Rollins have alluded to on social media.

In case you didn’t know…

John Cena is widely regarded as one of the most influential professional wrestlers of all time and has been the promotional flag-bearer for the WWE since he gradually took over the company’s reigns from The Rock and ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin in the early-to-mid-2000s.

On the other hand, Seth Rollins has competed in the sport of pro-wrestling since 2005, and made a name for himself in promotions such as ROH, until making the transition to the WWE’s developmental territories in 2010.

The heart of the matter

Seth Rollins broke through into the big leagues upon his debut as part of The Shield alongside Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose in 2012 and has since gone on to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship among several other accolades. Meanwhile, as younger talents such as Rollins & Reigns have taken over the top spots in the WWE, John Cena has been wrestling on a part-time schedule in the WWE, owing to his blossoming Hollywood career.

Regardless, Cena is still regarded as one of the most highly-respected WWE employees and is said to possess considerable backstage clout in the WWE. Cena sent out the following statement on Twitter—

“Today a friend did what friends do. Confronted me about my shortcomings and gave me an opportunity to #EarnTheDay @WWERollins Thank You #NeverGiveUp”

Considering Cena’s aforementioned backstage power in the WWE, the fact that Rollins confronted him, over an issue that’s yet to be disclosed, seems to have set the pro-wrestling community abuzz about what could have possibly transpired between the two WWE Superstars.

Following Cena’s Tweet, Rollins simply replied with “#YearOfTheDog”.

What’s next?

Seth Rollins’ role at the Elimination Chamber PPV is yet to be determined, whereas John Cena is already one of the six participants in the Men’s Elimination Chamber Match.

As of this writing, the exact issue which caused Cena and Rollins’ confrontation is yet to be revealed.

Author’s take

Honestly speaking, given how important Seth Rollins and John Cena are, as on-screen characters, in today’s WWE product, it’s nice to see both Superstars resolve their differences in a mature & professional manner.

Nevertheless, it’d be intriguing to see what exactly caused the confrontation, or if Cena & Rollins are perhaps working the fans much like Booker T & Corey Graves did over the past few days.
