WWE News: Matt Hardy threatens opponent with 'Final Deletion'

Bray Wyatt may have just messed with the wrong person

What's the story?

Woken Matt Hardy took on Elias this week to quality for the upcoming Elimination Chamber match at the similarly named pay-per-view in February. While Hardy seemed to have the match well in hand, a distraction from Bray Wyatt would cost him his match and opportunity.

Not one to take insults lying down, Hardy posted the following on Twitter thereafter. He threatened Wyatt with 'Final Deletion'.

In case you didn't know...

Long before he was 'Woken' in WWE, Matt Hardy was 'Broken' in Impact Wrestling. The Final Deletion was a match that happened in the Hardy Compound pitting him against his brother Jeff Hardy.

This was one crazy match, with a gardener named Senor Benjamin, fireworks, dilapidated boats and much, much more. The angle put Impact Wrestling on the map once again, and made The Hardyz the most valuable commodities in the brand.

Matt Hardy had kept this gimmick under wraps in WWE, until recently, when he was 'woken'.

The heart of the matter

If one casts his/her mind back to the feud between The New Day and the Wyatt Family, he/she may remember that a similar sequence happened on the Wyatt Compound as well.

Hardy has teased that a 'Final Deletion' style match could certainly happen in WWE, and it may be just what the doctor ordered in terms of reviving this gimmick.

Wyatt may be the perfect dance partner to carry out this program, considering that his dark and enigmatic persona often mirrors that of 'Woken' Matt Hardy.

So, in essence, this Tweet could be an indication that a 'Final Deletion' style match could be on the cards.

What's next?

Matt Hardy is no longer in race for the Elimination Chamber, but we have a feeling that he's far from done with Bray Wyatt for the time being anyway.

Author's take

It took a genius named Jeremy Borash in Impact Wrestling to make Matt Hardy's vision come to life. Now that he's making his way to WWE, there's a chance the world's largest promotion will do justice to Matt Hardy's WONDERFUL gimmick.

The sheer amount of glorious cheese that existed in the 'Broken' gimmick has not been felt in the 'Woken' universe.
