We're back with another exciting WWE News and Rumor Roundup. Today's edition will feature a few stories related to the recently-concluded Survivor Series event.

Many fans had hoped to see a top superstar return at the pay-per-view. But there is a specific reason why that did not happen. Meanwhile, reports following Survivor Series have highlighted that there was backstage concern regarding the main event. Becky Lynch took part in one of the more newsworthy matchups on Sunday, and she became quite emotional during a subsequent interview.

Not too long ago, a current champion expressed his desire to face Goldberg at WWE WrestleMania 38, and Jeff Hardy mentioned his career goals in professional wrestling — one of which involves an AEW star.

Without further ado, let's take a closer look at these news and rumor stories.

#5. The Rock didn't show up at WWE Survivor Series due to another commitment

As per Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, The Rock is currently shooting a film outside the United States. Moving back and forth between countries is no easy task due to quarantine restrictions these days, so the Hollywood megastar's potential appearance on the 25th anniversary of his Survivor Series debut seemed out of the question.

"Dwayne is out of the country, and he can't come back. They are like, doing a movie, and he can't go back and forth because of quarantine. There was no way he would be at the show tonight," reported Dave Meltzer.

He also noted that WWE hadn't specifically advertised The Rock's Survivor Series appearance this year despite fan expectations.

"Obviously, they did (the crowd expecting Rock's return) because people built it up in their imagination. I mean, if he was advertised and he wasn't there, it was one thing. But he was absolutely not advertised," added Meltzer.

Even though The Brahma Bull didn't return at Sunday's pay-per-view, WWE possibly planted seeds for his dream clash against Roman Reigns during a backstage segment between the Universal Champion and Vince McMahon.

#4. Timing concerns over Big E vs. Roman Reigns

According to PWInsider, there was a "minor freak out" among WWE officials at Survivor Series during Big E and Roman Reigns' main event clash.

Higher-ups expected the pay-per-view to conclude no later than 11:35 PM ET, which raised some backstage concerns over them running out of time in the end. Things eventually ended well, as Reigns and Big E received enough television time.

Earlier during the show, participants in the Men's Survivor Series Elimination match were given a lot of time for their entrances. PWInsider noted that "there were some wondering" why that was the case.

#3. Jeff Hardy wants to reunite with his brother in or out of WWE

Jeff Hardy recently spoke to Sportskeeda Wrestling's Sid Pullar III and highlighted his three goals in professional wrestling at the moment.

The first includes him winning the Universal Championship by ideally dethroning Roman Reigns. He also wants to bring his alter-ego, Willow, to WWE at some point. And The Charismatic Enigma's third goal is a reunion with his brother, current AEW star Matt Hardy.

Interestingly, Jeff told Sportskeeda Wrestling that with contract expirations and frequent WWE talent releases, a Hardy Boyz reunion outside of McMahon's company seems likely as well.

"Reuniting with my brother [Matt Hardy], whether it's here or there. Like you said, contracts expire, people get released, it happens all the time, so anything is possible, in and outside of wrestling," said Jeff Hardy.

The Charismatic Enigma signed a two-year deal with WWE in 2020. Once his current contract expires, he will have the option to either re-sign or join his brother in AEW, among other opportunities.

#2. Becky Lynch sheds tears after facing Charlotte Flair

At Survivor Series 2021, Becky Lynch defeated Charlotte Flair in an inter-brand match that certainly got WWE fans talking. The real-life heat between both women added a lot of intrigue to their latest clash, which surely wasn't lacking in the intensity department.

In a post-match interview, however, Lynch became quite emotional and shed some tears. The RAW Women's Champion commented on her former friendship with Flair, displaying mixed feelings despite winning the bout.

"Even watching the video packages, I got a little emotional... to see where we came from, to where we are now, and the hatred going out there... it's so sad. That's somebody I loved so much, I trusted with my life. We've been through everything together, we nearly died in a car crash together. And just how much we despise each other now. I just wanted to rip her apart out there... And I don't know if I'm happy or sad about that but I got the win. And now she knows she can't deny it. I'm the better woman," said Lynch.

#1. Big E wishes to face Goldberg at WWE WrestleMania 38

It's no secret that the current WWE Champion admired Goldberg a lot growing up. Despite the latter now being in his 50s, he still wrestles occasionally.

During a recent appearance on Barstool’s Rasslin’ podcast, Big E expressed his desire to face Goldberg at next year's WrestleMania event, regardless of how short their match will be. He is well aware that while the two won't necessarily "have the greatest match of all time," it will still be a full-circle moment for him in WWE.

"Goldberg is something very cool. I'm not saying we would have the greatest match of all time, but 10 minutes. Give me two minutes. I'll be a one-minute man for that match. The opportunity to wrestle — this man was my childhood hero. I met him over 20 years ago, at a signing. I still have the 8x10 up in my house in the closet that he gave to me that he signed for me years ago. So I know there's something very full circle about — the fact that it's even possible is dope. So I would love to have one. Give me 90 seconds of a match,” said Big E.

This isn't the first time he has spoken about a dream match against Goldberg. Back in September, Big E openly stated that he would like to end the Hall of Famer's career.
