WWE is set to release a DVD featuring the Hardys' Broken Universe

What’s the story?

As confirmed by WWE Home Video UK, the WWE has indeed worked with Impact Wrestling to bring fans a new DVD featuring the Hardys’ “Broken Universe”.

This rare collaboration between the two promotions will see WWE feature content from Impact Wrestling on its aforementioned DVD. Besides, the release date of said DVD has also been revealed.

In case you didn’t know…

Matt Hardy, his wife Reby (Queen Rebecca), son Maxel (King Maxel), Matt’s brother Jeff (Brother Nero), as well as Reby’s father (Senor Benjamin) portrayed members of the Broken Universe in Impact Wrestling.

The Broken gimmick became wildly popular back in 2016, however, the Hardys subsequently parted ways with Impact Wrestling—primarily performing for other promotions from early-2017 onwards.

Matt Hardy was then involved in a legal battle with Impact Wrestling parent-company, Anthem, over the IP (Intellectual Property) rights of the Broken gimmick, for the better part of 2017—with both parties eventually reaching a settlement late last year.

The heart of the matter

Matt & Jeff Hardy returned to WWE in April of last year, while their legal dispute was still going on. Regardless, after having settled the aforementioned legal dispute, Matt now owns the IP rights to the Broken gimmick.

As noted, WWE Home Video UK has announced that WWE and Impact Wrestling have been working together to bring fans the “Twist of Fate: Best of the Hardy Boyz” DVD.

Fans can read an excerpt of the Tweet sent out by WWE Home Video UK, below—

“We can exclusively reveal that WWE has worked with Impact Wrestling on Twist of Fate: Best of the Hardy Boyz. For the first time ever, a WWE DVD release will feature footage from Impact, as part of a candid look at the "Broken Universe"! Out on DVD 30th April!”

What’s next?

The “Twist of Fate: Best of the Hardy Boyz” shall feature content from the Broken Universe, and will be released on April 30th.

While Jeff Hardy is expected to receive a push as a singles competitor in the days to come on WWE programming, Matt is set to team up with Bray Wyatt on their expedition to win the RAW Tag Team titles—a storyline which will play out in the weeks to come on Monday Night RAW.

Author’s take

It’s great to see the WWE procure footage from Impact Wrestling, so as to further familiarize the WWE Universe with the Broken/Woken gimmick.

Besides, working together to give fans the best product is indeed “What’s Best For Business!”.
