Sheamus defeated Damien Sandow in the pre-show match

The pre-show match that was shown on both YouTube and Yahoo Sports saw Sheamus pick up the victory over an impressive Sandow. The match involved a lot of interesting moments as Sandow dominated most of the match. Though many felt that having a star like Sheamus in the pre-show was bad, it was actually a good move as WWE managed to get in a lot of viewers for the match. Surprisingly, Sheamus picked up a clean victory as Sandow looked hopeful for a huge PPV victory.

Curtis Axel defeated The Miz and Wade Barrett to become the new Intercontinental Champion

Curtis continued his winning run as he managed to pick up the victory over The Miz and Champion Barrett to become the new Intercontinental Champion. Son of the greatest Intercontinental Champion Mr. Perfect, Axel managed to give us some really good offense inside the ring. The Perfectplex on Barrett received a lot of cheers from the crowd. While Miz had Barrett locked in the Figure Four, Axel came into the ring and pinned Barrett to pick up the victory.

AJ defeated Kaitlyn to become the new Diva’s Champion

In a match that involved a lot of build up, AJ managed to win her first Diva’s Champion by tap out. AJ countered Kaitlyn’s spear attempt to lock in the Black Widow which made Kaitlyn tap out.

RVD to return in Money in the Bank

WWE announced that RVD will make his comeback in Money in the Bank this year.

Dean Ambrose defeated Kane for the US Title

Ambrose looked a completely different person inside the ring here as he tried several different moves. There were moments were Ambrose tried Undertaker’s Old School, but Kane somehow managed to counter that move. Ambrose slapped Kane, who then went out of the ring enraged. A DDT outside the ring on the floor put Kane out as Ambrose wisely came in and Kane was counted out.

Alberto Del Rio defeated Dolph Ziggler to become the new World Heavyweight Champion

One of the most unpredictable results of the night. Del Rio, who had been in the title race for quite sometime now, finally managed to pull one back as he picked up the victory against Ziggler to become the new World Heavyweight Champion. Del Rio took advantage of Ziggler’s concussion as Ziggler was made to look injured during the fight. The crowd was clearly behind Ziggler as they booed Del Rio. Ziggler showed complete heart in this match as he managed to kick out of huge kicks to the back of the head. Despite referee’s attempts to stop the match, Ziggler wanted to carry on; and after a Zig-Zag which Ziggler failed to capitalize on, a final kick to the back of Ziggler’s head gave Del Rio the victory and the title.

CM Punk returns to defeat Chris Jericho

Well, nobody expected Punk to lose in his hometown, and the the crowd was not disappointed. Despite some near close falls, CM Punk managed to pin Jericho after two back-to-back GTS’s. The match had the complete support of the crowd; every Punk offense was cheered and Jericho’s booed. During the match, Jericho nearly tapped out to the Anaconda Vice and managed to kick out of a GTS. As shocking as that was, Punk kicked out of two codebreakers and the crowd went nuts as they started a ‘This is Awesome’ chant. Finally, Punk managed to pick up the victory. Clearly the match of the night.

Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns defeated Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan to retain the World Tag Team Title

The Shield proved dominant once again as they managed to retain their Tag Team Titles against the strong contention of Bryan and Orton. In a match where the opponents lacked understanding, Bryan and Orton were at loggerheads in the match right after Bryan’s suicide dive accidentally hit Orton. The animosity between the two was quite apparent after this, and Orton paid back by pushing Bryan into Roman Reigns’ spear. Orton, despite hitting the RKO, was pushed out of the ring and Rollins then pinned Bryan for the victory.

John Cena defeated Ryback to retain the WWE Title in a 3 Stages of Hell match

In what was one of the most predictable matches of the night, John Cena emerged victorious after laying the AA on Ryback on top of the ambulance. The three stages for this match were a lumberjack match followed by a tables match, and finally the Ambulance match. Ryback surprisingly pinned Cena clean to win the first stage. Later, Cena made a so-called remarkable comeback by running Ryback into the table, and finally the AA on top of the ambulance gave Cena the victory. Looks like the WWE title is going to be around Cena’s waist for quite some time now.
