WWE Payback 2016: 5 worst things to come out of the PPV

The siblings initially appear stunned at their father's decision.
This storyline has us as confused as these two during this segment at Payback

Payback turned out to be better than what was expected out of it. We had a very irrelevant US Title bout but Ryback’s been building his reputation as a heel in a pretty great form. He continued his house show antics to Chicago by taking a dig at Chicago’s greatest wrestling hero CM Punk. And even if he lost, he did well.

So did arch-rivals Owens and Zayn and so did most performers on the card. But there were still some things that disappointed when compared to the rest of the show. Some were out of the performers and some were all about control and yet a failure.

Here are the 5 worst things to come out of Payback-

# 1 Enzo Amore’s injury scare

The match ends in a no contest after Enzo Amore suffers an injury and is taken to a nearby medical facility.
Amore’s injury looked nasty

When New day opened the show to a splendid pop, you knew that only one team can really follow this ovation and that team walked out to just that. Enzo Amore and Big Cass had the audience eating those catchphrases from the palm of their hands. And the trash talk towards The Vaudevillains was also well done.

They certainly have the gift of jab but all of that momentum came to a staggering halt after Amore head bounced off the apron while trying to slide under the ropes towards ringside. It was looked nasty and the Certified G, bona fide stud was diagnosed with a concussion.

All other tests came out to be negative and he sent out quite a kick-ass post hospital visit picture.

#2 The McMahon saga

Vince McMahon wants a brutal power struggle between his children

Sure, it is lovely to see Shane McMahon walk out to the arena every single time but there is no denying the fact that this McMahon struggle storyline is utterly stupid. Stephanie McMahon, the heel, actually had many, many valid points.

In the end, papa McMahon gives power to both his children and in the spirit of game of Thrones envisioned them to slit each other’s’ throats trying to give the WWE Universe a better product. Don’t know how that’ll turn out and there is hope that given how over these characters are, there will be something to look forward to but the lead up to all this was just lukewarm compared to everything on the show.

#3 What is the storyline?

Chris Jericho stares down Dean Ambrose in Allstate Arena, the same arena in which Jericho made his WWE debut in 1999.
This match did not have high stakes

Chris Jericho is hilarious as a heel and Dean Ambrose is just so over as the babyface but this story had no legs to begin with. This started with quite a few entertaining elements but as far as stakes go, this match did not have much heat on it. It was obvious that Ambrose will be put over after so many losses he suffered and we knew

Ambrose is not the young superstars that could be buried by a veteran like Chris Jericho. Things were just too obvious with this match and that did make it less interesting to follow.

#4 A few missed spots

This spot was way too predictable

We know hardcore fans love The Boss and if rumors are to be believed then she will take that title away from Charlotte sooner rather than later but what hurts sometimes is when two women are trying to give you possibly the best they possibly can and then chanting for a superstar who’s not even present.

This wasn’t offensive but Natalya and Charlotte were trying really hard to get the crowd interested and they managed to pull them in as the match moved on. Also, The Montreal Screwjob antic has been used so often that its impact has waned off.

Though, it was a nice little touch to have Charles Robinson call for the bell due to his history with Ric Flair and being called ‘Lil Naitch’ in the process. Continuity was good and hence it’s low on the list.

It was very obvious that they were going for the double sharpshooter. The predictability of it was a bit of a thrill-killer.

#5 Last and the least

The siblings came out to assert themselves in the main event

The least harm done were by just a few parts in the main event. The match between Styles and Reigns was stellar. It was incredible for all the near falls, for all the interference, for all the teases. You knew Styles will lose but they made you believe that he may just pull off an upset and now they’ll take each other on again at Extreme Rules.

But of course, the McMahon siblings had to interrupt to assert themselves. Shane McMahon came out first to reverse the count-out judgment, saying it’s the new era and matches won’t end that way. Well, if it was such a new era to result much new changes then the title should have been won by the man who won via count-out. That would have been quite new.

But let’s not jump to conclusions. And then a disqualification led to the Stephanie McMahon coming out to assert herself. These interruptions were a bit disturbing but yet the least harmful from a terrific PPV.
