WWE RAW - Best and worst: Possible heel turn coming soon, Big issue with Seth Rollins vs. Rey Mysterio revealed

Drew McIntyre and Heath Slater shared a very emotional moment
Drew McIntyre and Heath Slater shared a very emotional moment

This week's episode of RAW was a fun show, as WWE built to The Horror Show at Extreme Rules. Judging from the matches that have been made official, this is not going to be a pay-per-view as big as SummerSlam, which is obvious, but this week's RAW made it clear that it will probably be a step down from Backlash too.

RAW had some good moments but it was bogged down by two things. Not only did RAW feel far too long, which is always going to be a problem with a 3-hour long show, but the programs at the upcoming pay-per-view are so unexciting that I don't think that one could invest his/her attention to the fullest.

In any case, it's time for yet another edition of 'best and worst' of WWE RAW, where as always, I invite you to share your thoughts, views, and opinions.

#1 Best: MVP makes an offer to Cedric Alexander on WWE RAW

What did you think of the new United States Championship that was unveiled on RAW this week? Be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments below and please let me know how it compares to the previous US Championship design.

The best thing about this week's show in my opinion was the offer that MVP made to Cedric Alexander, trying to recruit him to his fold on WWE RAW, which could make for a very interesting heel turn in the near future.

Even if it does not, it brings Cedric Alexander to the foreground on RAW, and as MVP implied, he has been one of the most overlooked performers in the roster. I am pretty certain that even if the unthinkable happens and MVP becomes the United States Champion, it would be an entertaining run from MVP.

#1 Worst: Why did a babyface cheat on RAW this week?

Let's begin with the most recent name change on WWE RAW. Once upon a time, he was Dominick, and then he would go on to become Dominik, and now once again, Rey Mysterio's son will be known as Dominick going forward.

And this isn't even the biggest problem with the whole Seth Rollins vs. Rey Mysterio storyline on RAW. Without Austin Theory in his ranks, the heels only comprise Rollins and Murphy, and the babyfaces actually had Dominick on the outside, who cheated during the course of the match to give his father's team the victory.

I am also a little baffled that someone as talented as Kevin Owens does not have a feud of his own on RAW, and hasn't been featured prominently for some time now. I realize that he's been away but doesn't it feel like forever since he was in a RAW program that people actually cared about even a little?

Finally, can RAW's creative team stop treating Aleister Black as just another guy in the WWE roster?

#2 Best: 2 excellent women's matches on RAW

Honestly, it was so good to see Kairi Sane back on WWE RAW once again. I thought that the match that she had with Sasha Banks on this week's episode of RAW was absolutely the match of the night. It may even have been better than the RAW main event, which was also a classic between Bayley and Asuka.

Even Nikki Cross played her part in the RAW main event, but, to me, the star of the show was Bayley, who has now gone from huggable and lovable to the worst kind of human being ever.

Who would have ever imagined that a heel like this existed somewhere deep within her? Everyone expected her to be the next John Cena but Bayley has transformed into one of the most annoying (in a good way) characters in the history of RAW.

With Sasha Banks by her side, the two remind me of Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens when they were at their peak as a nefarious heel tandem.

#2 Worst: Ruby Riott suffers a loss on RAW

Ruby Riott is one of the most talented women in the RAW roster, bar none. However, there is something about her that has just held her back and maybe those higher up in WWE don't see what fans do. I do hope that this losing streak is a RAW storyline that eventually leads to her bouncing back with Liv Morgan on her side again.

I just dislike the idea that Ruby Riott is being used as an enhancement talent to build The IIconics up in the manner that she is. And this isn't a knock against The IIconics, who seem to be doing a great job and maybe more in line with what WWE likes on their television products- RAW and SmackDown. Someone as edgy as Ruby Riott may resonate more with an NXT audience.

Let's hope that Liv Morgan, who is the prototype of what WWE likes in a potential Superstar can help Ruby Riott rise to the next level of stardom once she returns.

#3 Best/Worst: Heath Slater returns to RAW again

Listen, under normal circumstances, I would have marked the emotional segment at the start of RAW between Heath Slater and Drew McIntyre as a 'best' for sure, but then the news came out that this was going to possibly be his last appearance. I am not sure about these one-off segments to be quite honest with you, because Heath Slater is a talented man and a segment like this does not do justice to his ability.

In any case, that was RAW in a nutshell. Perhaps the biggest mystery to emerge from the night is why Randy Orton, the legend killer, would help R-Truth out who made the mistake of confusing Ric Flair with Akira Tozawa.
