WWE Raw, March 10, 2014: Top 5 moments

The 'Yes Movement' wave

The ‘Yes Movement’ wave

This episode of Raw was one of the best in recent months, filled with great matches and segments this episode was one not to be missed. Out of all the great moments from last night we had some which really stood out.

5. Hulk Hogan announces The Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal

Hulk Hogan kick started last night’s episode of Raw and announced The Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal for WrestleMania XXX, with the winner getting the Andre the Giant trophy. This means that all the mid-card wrestlers who, otherwise, couldn’t have been a part of ‘Mania would get a chance to shine.

John Cena entered the ring to tell Hogan how much he idolizes him and to announce his participation in the match. Those who were excited about the prospects of a Cena-Wyatt match at WrestleMania might have felt dejected after this announcement but their dejection didn’t last long as a Wyatt promo changed Cena’s mind and he challenged Wyatt for a match at ‘Mania which Wyatt later accepted, so Cena-Wyatt at ‘Mania is ON!!!

4. The Undertaker/Paul Heyman promo

With Brock Lesnar absent until March 24, it was obvious that WWE would make Taker and Heyman cut a promo, which these two men did with absolute perfection. Heyman interrupted Taker before The Phenom could speak and told him that if he wants his streak to live on then he shouldn’t challenge Brock Lesnar, because his client is going to break it: “If you step into the ring at WrestleMania 30 with my client, your streak will be conquered by Brock Lesnar.”

Taker had a mysterious and confusing reply to this: “The fear of death is far greater than the death itself. But the fear of the unknown is the greatest fear of all.” I don’t know what he wanted to say but it sure made the segment exciting. This segment has increased fans’ expectations from this match but considering Taker’s age we really don’t want it to go the hardcore way.

3. Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins vs The Rhodes Brothers

Every time we saw these 4 men fight each other out before, either one of those two teams were the Tag Team Champions, but with nothing to lose this time these guys fired all their cylinders and delivered an outstanding match. This is what happens when you put 4 equally talented men inside the ring. Rollins, with his outstanding technical abilities and Reigns, with his strength won this great match from an equally good tag team.

WWE, of course, can’t give us a Shield-Wyatt Family match every week, but finding a replacement in Goldust and Cody Rhodes produced the same magic. The Shield again proved why they are the hottest assets in the WWE right now (alongside Bray Wyatt). We should enjoy watching The Shield as long as they are together because three talented men can’t stay together for long.

2. Sheamus vs. Christian (Memphis Street Fight match)

This feud didn’t produce even a bit of excitement since it started, but Raw last night was a big exception. Fans chose a Memphis Street Fight match between the two via WWE App, and these two men went out for a brawl. They fought like arch-rivals, smashing guitars, kendo sticks and chairs on each other.

Sheamus won it with a Brogue Kick through a drum. Both of them did every possible thing to deliver a great match and they didn’t fail. Let’s see what proceeds this match in their feud and how their road to WrestleMania unfolds.

1. Daniel Bryan ‘occupies’ Raw

http://youtu.be/-EQYSuG1GFY

Backed up by his fans (wearing Yes shirts) who surrounded the ring and chanted Yes, Bryan challenged Triple H to a match at WrestleMania (this pissed Stephanie more than Hunter). When the fans refused to leave the ring, Hunter had to accept the challenge which had an added stipulation that if Bryan wins against Triple H then he will be included in the main event match the same night. So, are we getting both Bryan vs. Hunter and Bryan in the WrestleMania XXX main event? It does sound exciting.

Later in the main event, Bryan and Big Show faced Orton and Batista with Bryan getting a pin over Orton after delivering a flying knee. That made it two defeats for Batista in two consecutive nights though he never got pinned.

What has got the fans excited is the fact that Bryan’s still got a chance to main event WrestleMania XXX. Let’s just hope that WWE doesn’t ruin it this time.
