WWE Royal Rumble 2020: 5 Superstars who should not enter at No.2

The Beast patiently waits

A week back, while the WWE Universe lied in wait to hear what plans Paul Heyman had in store for his client's next WWE Championship defense, he made an unprecedented announcement that surprised fans worldwide - Brock Lesnar will be the first entrant in the 2020 Royal Rumble.

Fans may not have been excited about this announcement, but I, on the contrary, am beginning to like this idea of including Lesnar in the match simply because this gives fans a chance to watch Lesnar face off against many Superstars in one match. If it weren't for this announcement, we would have to sit through another one-sided Lesnar match that would last for a maximum of ten minutes.

Another reason why this proposition does sound exciting is that now there is a buzz about not only someone winning the match but also about the Superstar who will eliminate Lesnar. This seems like a match with not just one but two opportunities for two different Superstars.

Everyone is looking forward to the second entrant in this match. It must be someone who can go toe to toe with The Beast for at least two minutes and should be someone who the fans can get behind. With that being said, this face-off would get even louder cheers if it is someone who Lesnar has not battled with before.

Here I list out five Superstars who should not be the ones to step into the ring against The Beast at the beginning of the match.

#5 Kofi Kingston

Sadly for Kofi Kingston, his dream of holding on to the WWE Title was cut short at 180 days. The man to beat Kingston for the WWE Title was none other than Brock Lesnar. After Lesnar beat him, Kingston returned to tag team competition without a rematch.

Many fans were disheartened when Kingston was beaten within 10 minutes on the inaugural episode of SmackDown Live on FOX. This isn't the only time Lesnar has beaten Kingston so impressively. In the Beast In The East show in Japan, Lesnar beat Kingston in less than three minutes.

Kingston definitely is someone who doesn't step back from a challenge but isn't the right opponent to face Lesnar right in the beginning of the match.

#4 Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio has been one of WWE's most dependable and entertaining Superstars. Who can forget the run Mysterio had in the 2006 Royal Rumble where he lasted over sixty minutes to win, taking him all the way to WrestleMania where he became the World Heavyweight Champion.

Not too long ago, Mysterio assisted the debut of Cain Velasquez after Lesnar beat up Mysterio and his son. This led to the match between the two former UFC Heavyweight Champions at Crown Jewel. Once the match ended, Mysterio attacked Lesnar with a steel chair, resulting in Lesnar shifting to RAW in the pursuit of Mysterio.

Lesnar had a score to settle with Mysterio, while the latter was seeking revenge for Lesnar hurting Dominick, Mysterio's son. These two locked horns at Survivor Series last year where Lesnar defeated Mysterio.

Now Mysterio is in the hunt for the US Title and is involved in some top-quality matches against Andrade. But WWE may always try to revive such rivalries or try to hit the fans with a sense of nostalgia, having Mysterio enter as the second entrant in the match. This is something that must be avoided at all costs.

#3 Mustafa Ali

Mustafa Ali has been very unlucky in the WWE

Mustafa Ali has made quite a name for himself since he made his debut on the main roster. He has pinned Daniel Bryan in a tag team match and has challenged for the WWE Championship as well.

Ali was running hot and wild and the crowd was behind him since his days at 205 Live, but his run in the 2019 Royal Rumble is where he was noticed and received an enormous push. He was slated to contest for the WWE Title at Elimination Chamber but was pulled out due to an injury.

His bad luck gave birth to KofiMania. Kofi Kingston had a great showing in the Elimination Chamber match in February 2019. His performance earned him a shot at the WWE Title at WrestleMania. At Mania, Kingston beat Bryan to finally become a Grand Slam Champion in WWE.

Ali quickly gained his lost opportunity when he participated in the Money In The Bank match later that year. He was fingertips away from capturing the briefcase when Brock Lesnar surprised the WWE Universe and inserted himself into the match to win the briefcase and ensure a shot at the WWE Championship.

Ali has gone on the record and stated the plans he has for Lesnar at the Royal Rumble. I am all for Ali getting the push he deserves and maybe a title match someday soon but him coming out at number two wouldn't receive much of a pop.

It is highly likely that Lesnar would make quick work of Ali and eliminate him, taking away the chance for Ali to get the WWE Universe fired up for him once again.

#2 R Truth

R-Truth didn't make a wise decision this week on Raw

Who knows what got into R-Truth this past week on RAW. While Lesnar and Heyman were cutting a promo for the Royal Rumble match, R-Truth made his way to the ring and interrupted them, cutting a promo of his own.

The Beast never takes kindly to someone who cuts his way. The inevitable happened and Lesnar beat the daylight out of Truth. After a clothesline and a monstrous F5, Lesnar left the veteran lying in the ring helpless. To Truth's dismay, Mojo Rawley used this opportunity to pin him and win the 24x7 Championship.

There is no doubt that Truth will be disgruntled at how things played out for him and will be looking to regain his lost 24x7 title. But this should not mean that Truth looks to go after Lesnar right at the start of the Rumble. The WWE Champion would make quick work of Truth and send him flying over the top rope in no time.

#1 EC3

Could EC3 make a surprise return at the Royal Rumble?
Could EC3 make a surprise return at the Royal Rumble?

Ever since EC3 made his debut on the main roster, he has never been in the spotlight. He is a Superstar who deserves much more than what he has been getting. His main roster run has been forgettable. He has neither had a well-defined feud nor a storyline.

He was a part of A Moment Of Bliss segment in which he was interrupted by Dean Ambrose, who was anyway going to leave the company in a few months. He had a couple of matches with Ambrose, but couldn't get the crowd behind him even though he was supposed to be the babyface.

This didn't sit well with the authorities and EC3 was written off the show. He again showed up in pursuit of the 24x7 Championship and would be seen running around trying to capture the title with other mid-card competitors. He won the title on four occasions.

EC3 is now sidelined due to a concussion. But there was a lot expected and he shouldn't be fed to Lesnar. The Royal Rumble can be used as a medium for EC3 to get noticed and make a name for himself in the WWE Universe.
