#3. Vince McMahon still sees Drew McIntyre as a future World Champion
Drew McIntyre's main roster run hasn't exactly gone according to plan. However, it's not a lost cause.
Look who just shut down all of Tony Khan's critics! More HERE.
Sportskeeda's Tom Colohue revealed that Drew McIntyre is still quite over backstage and that Vince McMahon still wants to make the Scottish Psychopath a World Champion in the future.
It was also revealed that McIntyre was the first pick to win the King of the Ring tournament. However, an untimely illness forced WWE to rewrite their existing plans. McIntyre was also in line for a Universal title shot as an incentive for winning the King of the Ring. It sadly couldn't pan out that way.
"Everything I have heard about Drew McIntyre has been very positive backstage. They are thoroughly behind him. Vince McMahon still wants to make him a world champion. He wants him to be the chosen one and essentially prove himself right from twelve years ago. I still see that happening. But, yet he was supposed to have this programme whereas I’m hearing he was supposed to King of the Ring, get his championship opportunity right afterwards as an end result for winning the tournament, which is of course what originally happened with the tournament."
McIntyre was eliminated by Ricochet from the KOTR tournament in the first round and it was later revealed that McIntyre was reportedly ill before the match. While the WWE management was not happy with McIntyre for keeping his illness a secret, as per Colohue, he is still, thankfully, in the good books of the officials.
Regarding his future, the former NXT Champion is ready to return and could be back on TV soon.
