Wrestlemania returns to Orlando, Florida next year, to the Camping World Stadium on April 3rd, 2017. Wrestlemania 24 had taken place at the very same venue at 2008, back when it was known as the Citrus Bowl. There is always the question of what the matches for Wrestlemania could be.It must be noted that WWE is attempting to bring back long-term storytelling, so there are in fact plans being sketched for Wrestlemania 33. Some of them fresh, and some which were supposed to happen before, but will be happening, if all goes well:
Brock Lesnar vs Shane McMahon
This was something that started off at Summerslam when Brock Lesnar F-5’d Shane McMahon who had just come to ensure that The Beast Incarnate stopped his assault on Randy Orton. Since then, they have been slowly building and teasing it week by week. However, there has also been talks that if Shane is not going to wrestle on the card, then he will find someone in place to represent him. This leads to many names being speculated, the topmost one being Goldberg.
Seth Rollins vs Triple H
This is almost a no-brainer. The seeds of these were planted ever since 2015, the period in which Rollins was the apprentice of Triple H and the Golden Boy of The Authority. It was said that this was supposed to take place at Wrestlemania 32, but with Rollins knee injury that kept him on the shelf for about 8 months, things changed drastically as Roman Reigns defeated Triple H in the main event of Wrestlemania 32 for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, and it also saw the conclusion of The Authority storyline. This past Monday night on Raw, Triple H returned for the first time since Wrestlemania and attacked Seth Rollins, cementing Rollins babyface turn, and Triple H aligning himself with Kevin Owens. This has definitely planted the seeds for a Rollins vs Triple H match at Wrestlemania 33.
The Undertaker vs John Cena
This was another match that was supposed to take place at Wrestlemania 32, with the match being Undertaker’s swan song. However, Cena had gotten injured, and Shane McMahon had taken his place. It looks like this will still be taking place, despite the fact that Undertaker had told some that Wrestlemania 32 was his final match. However, it is very likely that this will not only take place, but this will indeed be Undertaker’s swan song. This is also very likely going to be the main event of Wrestlemania 33.
The Rock vs Vin Diesel
Recently, The Rock had been teasing some sort of heat with Vin Diesel, who happens to be his co-star in the eighth installment of the Fast & Furious franchise. Life & Style magazine reported that the feud was just a work that could possibly be leading to a Wrestlemania match. What makes this add up more is that Fast 8 releases in April 2017, which means that this would be the perfect promotion for the film.
Shaquille O’ Neal vs The Big Show
Two celebrity matches certainly seems like a bit much, but this is one match which is definitely set in stone since they both have confirmed the match themselves. Rumours have also been flying around that this might be the Big Show’s retirement match, only of the match ends up happening of course.
