WWE: Talking Points from July 22nd RAW

This week’s RAW came to us from Austin, Texas. After a great RAW last week, the expectations were high from this week’s show, as everyone wanted to see what WWE would do with Daniel Bryan.

After naming him the new number one contender for the WWE championship at SummerSlam, the fans were expecting nothing short of a good build up for the hottest star in the company.

So did the WWE disappoint the fans? Or did they live up to the expectations? Let’s find out in our top five talking points coming out of the show:

5. A diva suffers wardrobe malfunction

Brie Bella

During the Miz TV segment, all the participants of the new WWE TV show ‘Total Divas’ assembled in the ring. As the segment continued, Brie Bella encountered a wardrobe malfunction which resulted in the red faced diva tweeting her apology.

One of the things about live television is the ‘anything goes’ nature of it, which can’t be edited out. This segment then went viral, as all the fans tweeted Brie the picture, rubbing salt into her wounds. If WWE was looking for a way to hype up their new TV show, this wasn’t probably what they had in their mind.

4. A Big Show no-show

Big Show

Big Show was supposed to make his return tonight on RAW, as WWE had been hyping up his return since the past week, with the giant also stating on Twitter that he was in Austin, Texas, the home of this week’s show.

With WWE asking the fans what the motive of the giant’s return would be, the fans were expecting a surprise attack from the Big Show, which never happened.

Why did WWE hold back Show’s return? One can only imagine that they’re looking for a better storyline or feud for his return, and it might happen next week.

3. Cena faces Ryback while Daniel Bryan takes on Kane next week

Towards the end of this week’s RAW, John Cena challenged Ryback for a Tables’ match next week, when Ryback drove Daniel Bryan through the announcer’s table. With Maddox confirming it, we will see the two former opponents going at it once again.

Also, Vince McMahon gave Maddox an idea about Daniel Bryan facing his closest friend, who is the big red monster, Kane. With Kane out of action since the Wyatt Family’s attack couple of weeks ago, how will the big red monster respond? Will he ‘join the buzzards’ and destroy his former partner? Will he at least be present on the next episode of RAW?

We have to wait and find out!

2. Paul Heyman sends an ominous message to Punk

Last week, Paul Heyman’s client, Brock Lesnar absolutely destroyed CM Punk, driving the Second City Saint through the announcer’s desk. Punk showed the after effects of the attack this week, and challenged Brock Lesnar to a match at SummerSlam.

Heyman responded to the challenge via satellite, and told Punk he was nothing anymore. Heyman later accepted Punk’s challenge on behalf of his client, and the Punk-Lesnar match is now confirmed for SummerSlam.

Punk and Heyman delivered yet another outstanding segment, as the feud heats up going into the biggest party of the summer.

1. The Daniel Bryan show

Daniel Bryan

This week’s episode was all about one man – Daniel Bryan.

With Bryan being the hottest star in the company, WWE has finally listened to the fans, and gave Bryan the chance to show the WWE Universe what he’s capable of.

Wrestling three matches and performing for over 40 minutes, Daniel Bryan was the undisputed star of the show. If this is a sign of things to come, then we’re in for a great ride going into SummerSlam!

Will WWE show faith in Bryan and give him the title? We can only wait as WWE shifts into higher gear.
