All set to return.

Batista’s return is getting all the hype that it deserves, and there is a reason why everyone is looking forward to his return. 5. No Mercy ’05: Batista vs. Eddie Guerrero, World Heavyweight Championship Match

Eddie vs. Batista

This was the main event match of the pay-per-view, and also Eddie’s last pay-per-view match. After getting rid of JBL, Batista had to face the new #1 contender, Eddie Guerrero, who at that time started to portray a manipulative character, but he insisted that he is all about compassion. The build up to this match was spiced up when Eddie ‘accidentally’ hit Batista with a chair, saying that he was hitting MNM’s Joey Mercury.

It was a great match between the two former friends with both trying to get the upper hand, but Batista was always ahead of Eddie, who wasn’t able to complete his frog splash as Batista rolled out of it, gave a spinebuster to Eddie and pinned him for the win. The two shook hands after the match but hinted towards a continuation of this feud. Unfortunately, the feud couldn’t continue because of Eddie’s death.

4. One Night Stand ’08: Batista vs. Shawn Michaels, Stretcher Match

HBK vs. Batista

This match was a result of a feud emerging between these two after Michaels pinned Ric Flair at WrestleMania XXIV in a career threatening match, much to the remorse of Flair’s friend Batista. Prior to this, these two faced each other at Backlash with Chris Jericho as the special guest referee, where Michaels staged a knee injury only to deliver a sweet chin music to Batista, and pinned him for the win. Batista, soon defeated Jericho to win the chance to face Michaels in a stretcher match.

These two men gave their everything in this brutal match, with Batista finally getting Michaels on the stretcher past the finish line, and also bringing an end to this feud.

HHH vs. Batista

These two then met at Backlash where Batista retained his title. After this there was a Gold Rush Tournament on Raw to determine the #1 contender for Batista’s title, Triple H lost to Chris Benoit in the tournament’s first round itself. Edge won the tournament, but Batista pinned him to retain his title. After the match, Triple H attacked The Animal with a sledgehammer followed by a pedigree , and challenged him for his title to a Hell in a Cell match.

The match was as lethal as one can get with Triple H choking Batista with a chain, and hitting his back with a steel chair wrapped with barbed wire. Batista, in turn, used The Game’s sledgehammer against him and hit his mouth with it. Batista delivered a spinebuster to Triple H onto the steel steps and successfully pinned him after a Batista Bomb.

After this match, Triple H couldn’t wrestle for 4 months.

2. WrestleMania 23: Batista vs. The Undertaker, World Heavyweight Championship Match

Undertaker vs. Batista

The Undertaker won the 2007 Royal Rumble and challenged Batista for his World Heavyweight Championship. Both were face at that time, so the match was expected to be an entertainer with The Undertaker’s streak on line as well. Batista performed a spear as soon as the bell rung. The match was filled with powerful finishing moves with both the superstars coming up with various counters. Batista performed the Batista Bomb and Taker went for the Last Ride, but neither of them gave up too early. The Undertaker went over the top rope onto Batista, while The Animal delivered a running powerslam to The Phenom through the announce table.

Batista was approaching the win as he delivered a spinebuster followed by a Batista Bomb, but it couldn’t keep Taker down for 3 seconds. Instead, Undertaker connected Batista with his Tombstone Piledriver, pinned him to pick his first ever World Heavyweight Championship win and stretched his WrestleMania streak to 15-0.

The match lived up to its hype, with both of them giving everything they have. One can expect a sequel to this match for WrestleMania XXX.

1. Extreme Rules ’10: Batista vs. John Cena, Last Man Standing Match for the WWE Championship

Cena vs. Batista

At Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, Cena won the WWE Championship but McMahon made a WWE Championship match between him and Batista on the spot, which Cena lost. Cena later won a shot at Batista’s title for WrestleMania XXVI, Cena won the match by submission. Batista received his rematch at Extreme Rules.

The match saw both of them putting each other into the tables. Batista delivered a Batista Bomb, and Cena locked him in the STF, Batista tapped out, but it was a last man standing match. Cena then duct tapped Batista’s feet to the post, which didn’t let Batista get on his feet till the 10 count, making Cena the winner.

After this Batista wrestled Cena once more at Over the Limit in an “I Quit” match, but he lost again and after that he left WWE.
