Contract signing segments have always delivered some of the most recognizable moments in the WWE. Time and again, superstars have hyped their feuds while making their matches official for the pay-per-views.Without further hesitation, we take a look at five of the best contract signings that have gone down in recent years.

#1 CM Punk and John Cena 2011

The one contract signing that did not happen in 2014. It happened three years ago during the Summer of Punk. This contract signing took almost 20 minutes of WWE’s airtime during the then 2 hour Raw.

It included CM Punk calling out the WWE in all the aspects that he and any hardcore fan thought they had failed. He even mentioned the myth of a contract signing and was just waiting for the tables and chairs to fly off the ring.

CM Punk and John Cena represented two extremes of a system. Here was a virtuous hero and a not so virtuous anti-hero. This was funny, intense and hard-hitting and it got the job done. It paved the way for a spectacular Summerslam main event.

#2 Brock Lesnar And Undertaker 2014

This is the year of great contract signings. This wasn’t as typical as other contract signing, though. It was expected that Undertaker will return. It was expected that he will face Brock Lesnar at Summerslam. It was expected that he’ll beat Lesnar (which he, asthe world knows, didn’t). It was expected that chaos will ensue. What was not expected was the way it ensued.

It was an electric crowd and they reacted ardently to everything that happened. Afterall, the most iconic fictional charcater in the WWE had returned to that spectacular music and entrance.

Undertaker signed the contract by stabbing Brock Lesnar’s hand with the pen. And then he chokeslammed Lesnar through the table.

#3 Evolution Vs The Shield 2014

Both teams weren’t even in the ring together. The contract was signed just as a formality. And before this, both teams had collided enough times. Yet, it was exciting to see them brawl.

This contract signing was well executed precisely because Triple H introduced the sledge hammer into the mix. The return of the sledge hammer, Triple H’s dearest friend, was interesting and quite strangely nostalgic. It really upped the level of vehemence between the two teams. really did.

#4 Stephanie McMahon and Brie Bella, 2014

Another contract signing that happened this year makes this list. This happened towards the build up to another one of the Big Four PPVs- Summerslam. It was Stephanie McMahon’s return to the ring in almost 10 years. She was set to face Brie Bella.

This remains relevant because this ended the night on Raw and throughout the week, this divas bout got more coverage than the Divas Championship. It isn’t a shocker given that one of the competitors is the Boss’s daughter.

But this segment featured some strong promo work from both women. It sold their Summerslam match well and it ended with Stephanie delivering two pedigrees to both the Bella sisters.

#5 Team Authority and Team Cena-2014

As noted before, it had its air of predictability and unpredictability just seeped through. We could foreshadow Stephanie’s slap, atleast a keen observor could, or Cena’s promo but what sold the segment was Triple H’s antics and the inclusion of Erick Rowan and Cesaro in the mix of things.

And to follow all of that was Ryback inevitably joining Team Cena. The reaction to Ryback has been phenomenal. Phenomenal, precisely because this reaction comes after many failed pushes.

Also, nobody really signed the contract. But a contarct signing is complete only when chaos ensues.

Survivor Series, one of the Big four PPVs, remains interesting.
