WWE Top Five Rumours of the week and Analysis: 10 October, 2016

Jericho could be on his way out

No Mercy produced a handful of surprises. First of all, the WWE championship triple threat match opening the show was something that no one saw coming. After this, headlining the show with Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton also had people scratching their heads.

The Intercontinental championship win of Dolph Ziggler and the overall quality of the pay-per-view, however, made the fans happy to some extent.

Throughout the week leading up to the show, the rumour mill was buzzing about what would happen on Sunday. And now as those rumours are cleared up, we are going to take a look at the non-No Mercy rumours that are still going pretty strong!

#5 Reason why Lesnar vs. Goldberg will take place at Survivor Series

WWE wants it close to the release of WWE 2K17

The much anticipated Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg match is apparently set to happen at Survivor Series rather than the earlier rumoured WrestleMania 33. The main reason why WWE is planning the match for Survivor Series is because they want it to be closer to the release of WWE 2K17.

Also, WWE has already fixed an opponent for Lesnar when it comes to WrestleMania 33, and they did not want to change this for Goldberg. After wrestling in Survivor Series, Lesnar is also expected to show up for one more WWE show this year, which could be a live event somewhere in December.

#4 Vince McMahon unhappy with the ratings

Not a happy guy

The WWE television ratings have not been doing well lately and Vince McMahon is not happy about this. The ratings of Monday Night Raw had hit a record low when it went up against the Presidential debate and keeping this in mind, Vince is trying to incorporate changes into the product to boost ratings.

Slow steps are being taken from the company already and rumours suggest that WWE addressing the fans as ‘fans’ instead of ‘WWE Universe’ is part of the transition. It would be hard to know how and when WWE is going to implement the transitions but if they’re indeed coming, the fans would certainly be happy about the same.

#3 More releases coming

More releases to come

WWE releasing talent is not a new thing and this is why the release of Sara Lee and Hugo Knox did not make it to many headlines. But the rumour mill suggests that this would just be the start. Sara Lee did not ask for the release and it was WWE that went with the cut.

There are speculations about Sara being pregnant but there are no confirmations on the same. It would be interesting to see who all are going to get the axe.

If WWE does go forward and make cuts in the main roster, it could end up being a mistake as they still have problems with the roster depth due to the ongoing brand split.

#2 Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte to headline Hell in a Cell?

To headline the show?

Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte was announced for Hell in a Cell recently but unlike the rumours, WWE did not add the Hell in a Cell stipulation to the match. However, as we are still a long way from the pay-per-view, the stipulation could still be added.

The latest speculation suggests that WWE could be looking to let Charlotte vs. Sasha main event the pay-per-view.

Earlier, it was rumoured that WWE is indeed planning to let women close the show and considering their recent experiment at No Mercy, it wouldn’t be too surprising if the company go ahead with this decision at Hell in a Cell.

#1 Chris Jericho to leave at the end of the year

Jericho to leave?

Chris Jericho is known for having spells in the WWE. His recent stay has been longer than most people expected, but it might come to an end as the year comes to a close. The rumour mill suggests that Jericho could be leaving by the end of the year.

If this is indeed happening, WWE could be splitting up Jericho and Owens and start a feud between them.

Jericho has been excellent throughout his current spell with the company and his partnership with Kevin Owens, in particular, has been creating headlines all over the internet. Jericho’s absence is bound to be a blow for WWE if it actually happens.
