Summerslam 2014- 5 Promising Developments

What a Pay Per View. The positives outnumbered and overpowered the negatives. All of the biggest, most hyped matched lived up and sometimes exceeded expectations. Ambrose, Rollins,Ziggler, AJ, Paige, Stephanie, Brie, Cena and Lesnar are all responsible for this night to be one starry one. Here are the five promising developments from the WWEs biggestSummer.

#1 New Champion- Part 1

The match for the Intercontinental Championship happened to be the first televised match for this PPV. As far as the first match goes, usually the babyface ends up winning. But it was just too hard to believe that Ziggler will be given a moment of sheer glory by becoming a champion. But that is what exactly happened. His popularity refuses to die down despite his win-loss record.

#2 New Champion- Part 2

Paige became the Divas Champion for the second time in just the first four months since her debut on the main roster. But the biggest story of the match is the match itself. this match gave me hope that these two can bring back the days when female wrestlers were as revered as the male wrestlers. I could have watched this match for far longer than it turned out to be. I just hope this feud continues. It just has so much potential.

#3 Believe That

The best Lumberjack match I have ever seen

Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins rose up to the occasion and to all the high expectations and delivered a spectacular match. Rollins won but he did not win clean and that means that this feud is not even close to being over. This feud definitely has a long term potential. The build up hasn’t felt tired or boring at all. The fact that Seth Rollins’ betrayal was the reason for the dissolution the best stable in recent memory, has given this feud quite arguably the best build up. It also helps that Ambrose has turned out to be such an interesting babyface.

#4 The Billion Dollar Match

You know when Stephanie McMahon is involved in a match you never expect it to be a technical wrestling classic. But she always delivers a stellar performance. Add this to the list.

Brie Bella and McMahon exceeded expectations and part of it is because the Billion Dollar Princess has quite a presence. There was a uproarious ‘You Still Got It’ chants for her. They delivered one of the best matches of the night which was high on every aspect of a wrestling match. It had drama and quite some more drama. And Nikki Bella turned heel.

#5 New Champion- Part 3

JBL put it aptly,”This is the most dominating match I’ve ever seen”. And quite possibly this is the only match I can truly remember where John Cena was dominated and defeated so easily. When the match ended there was still 11 minutes left for the completion of a 3 hour PPV event. There was excitement all around and a lone ‘Let’s Go Cena’ chant by a child in the background when Cena was down(which he was for most of the match) and Lesnar was just preying on him. The uproarious way in which the audience just leapt from their seats whenever Lesnar set up for the F-5, all of that culminated to end WWE biggest summer.

And may I say - CONQUERED
