WWE Survivor Series 2014: 5 reasons why it could be the best show of 2014

The Survivor Series, which will be bought by the WWE on November 23rd is going to be the last episode of WWE’s so called ‘big pay-per-views’ of the year. The other three, namely, Royal Rumble, WrestleMania and SummerSlam did give the fans a lot of memorable moments and Survivor Series does have a lot of expectations to live up to.While Royal Rumble saw an epic encounter between Daniel Bryan and Bray Wyatt overshadowed by a botched Batista win, WrestleMania saw Bryan reaching the epitome of his dreams and a legendary streak coming to an end.And this year’s SummerSlam would go down in history as the stage of Cena’s destruction. It’s hard to overcome those great pay-per-views, but guess what, Survivor Series has all the ammunition to do just the same and here is a look at some of the reasons why.

#5 Possibility of another historic debut

We saw earlier that Survivor Series is the place for some great debuts.

Names like Undertaker, Scott Steiner, the Rock, Kurt Angle, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns made their debut at the pay-per-view making it a mecca for debutants.

And WWE might be looking to continue that legacy this year as well. There are a plethora of possible debutants from NXT that could break through at Survivor Series.

From the lot, Ascension is the favorites as there is a certain lack of depth in the WWE’s tag team division at the moment. Finn Balor and Hideo Itami making a jump into the main roster is also possible while Sami Zayn is another candidate.

#4 Its for free

WWE’s Network is going through such a forgettable phase that they are willing to give away a month’s subscription for free. The idea will be to pick up the subscriber number and attract new customers to the thing.

Well, this ‘free’ includes getting the rich archives of WWE tapes, matches on demand, Network originals and WWE’s second longest running pay-per-view Survivor Series.

Last year, WWE was getting nearly 60 dollar per pay-per-view buy for Survivor Series and this year all of a sudden the fans are going to get it for free.

Financially it’s a big step backward for the company but if they pull out a great show, then the gamble would pay off pretty well.

#3 Returns that are lined up

WWE has a lot of superstar that are out of action. Their active roster is actually smaller than list that contains wrestlers who are either injured or kept away due to creative reason.

Survivor Series thus would be a stage where we will have to watch out for some returns. First on the list of possible returnees is Roman Reigns. He was taken out due to injury a couple of months ago and could return straight into team Cena.

Chris Jericho is another name who is eager to make a comeback. He will reportedly sign a new deal this week itself which makes him a possibility for Survivor Series.

Apart from these two, there are the lights of Bad News Barrett, Erick Rowan and Luke Harper, Christian and the champion, Brock Lesnar who could make a surprising return.

#2 Traditional elimination match

If someone says that the best thing they love about Survivor Series is something other than the Traditional elimination match, then you’ve just found a liar without any lie detecting machine.

This year also WWE looks to bank in on this weakness of the WWE Universe and bring out a star studded main event for the pay-per-view. Not having a great traditional match did cost the company big time last year and they will not be replicating that.

The match would see Team Cena going against Team Authority. Guaranteed names for the match include John Cena, Seth Rollins, Kane and Dolph Ziggler.

And then there are the possible additions of Sheamus, Ryback, Usos, Cesaro, Chris Jericho, Roman Reigns, Mark Henry, Rusev and of course Triple H. Do we need any more reasons to be excited?

#1 Power Struggle

The biggest angle heading into the pay-per-view is a power struggle between Vince McMahon and Triple H. Mr. McMahon came out on Raw a couple of weeks ago and added a stipulation to the main event that if Team Authority lost, then the Authority wouldn’t be the Authority.

Vince didn’t tell who would replace Hunter and Stephanie but all hands point at Vince himself. He is apparently the granddaddy of all the authority figures and though Vince didn’t show hints of a full on war against Hunter, we know that’s going to happen soon.

There is a rumor going around suggesting that the angle would run all the way to WrestleMania with Triple H facing McMahon’s representative (The Rock) to decide the ownership of WWE.

If that’s true, then Survivor Series would initiate the angle making it a must see event.
