WWE Survivor Series 2014: Early match card predictions for the pay-per-view

World Wrestling Entertainment would be bringing their annual edition of Survivor Series from the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri and like always, there are big expectations riding on the pay-per-view.Being one of the ‘big four’ pay-per-views, Survivor Series has to live up to the lights of Royal Rumble, SummerSlam and WrestleMania which will clearly be a big headache for the creative team. However, the company has momentum on their side after pulling off a solid show at Hell in a Cell. Many storylines sprouted from an eventful pay-per-view that passed by and WWE has all the ammunition they need to build up a good card for their outing in November. So here is a look at the possible match card that the fans could get.

#7 AJ Lee vs Nikki Bella (Divas Championship)

The overly pushed angle between the Bellas cooled down after Hell in a Cell when Nikki picked up a win against her sister. Brie now must be the personal assistant of Nikki for the coming month and what this leaves Nikki with is a lot of momentum.

AJ Lee on the other hand is left without an opponent to feud with after the tenure of Paige came to an end last Sunday. Coupling the two women into a title feud is the most sensible thing that WWE could do at this moment even though Nikki would look bad in the same ring as AJ.

The creative can easily push forward the Bellas angle with an interference from Brie costing Nikki the match at the pay-per-view leaving AJ to fight someone new at TLC.

#6 Sheamus vs Rusev (United States Championship)

Rusev slayed the giant at Hell in a Cell and he apparently ran out of babyfaces in the roster that could face him. However, the midcard titles are still a possibility for the Bulgarian Brute and since Ziggler would probably be busy with Team Cena, Sheamus and his United States title would provide an ideal stage for Rusev.

Lana and Rusev have been working well with the Anti – American angle and if they decide to challenge for the prestigious title, it is sure to evoke a lot of heat.

Sheamus would turn out to be the biggest threat in Rusev’s short career as well and if WWE wants to push the latter into the stars, they could make him the champion as well.

#5 Ryback vs Curtis Axel

Ryback’s current run had another squash victory this week on SmackDown and this cleared the doubts that most fans had about what the company has in store for him. He looks set to continue his babyface run and to make it successful, what WWE needs to do is let Ryback unload all the baggage that he is carrying.

And the main burden Ryback has now is none other than his former partner, Curtis Axel. Axel wrestled a dark match at SmackDown this week meaning that he is fit to have a match. Pitting Axel as the heel against Ryback is the best booking decision that the big guy could get at the Survivor Series.

#4 Alicia Fox vs Paige

The best friend angle between Alicia and Paige came to an end at Hell in a Cell when the latter slapped the life out of the former after not being able to win the Divas Championship. Paige’s feud with AJ Lee is apparently over after her latest failure and the only possible feud that could engage the Brit would be a fight with Alicia.

The two had a pay-per-view match back when Paige was a baby face champion and it was a solid outing as well.

Both Paige and Alicia are excellent in-ring performers when compared to the divas division standards and having a second divas match in the match card wouldn’t make many frown as long as it is between these two.

#3 Mark Henry vs Big Show

The team of Mark Henry and Big Show had a lot of potential to revamp the depleted Tag team division but unfortunately, the WWE creative has some grudge against good ideas.

This made them drop the tag team and turn Henry heel. Now, Henry’s heel turn was supposed to happen a long time ago but pulling it off at this moment makes it seem like a big mess. What we now have on our hands is another feud between Show and Henry which would have nothing new to offer.

The two men have had many encounters in the past and since they are carrying the least momentum possible, the current feud may end up looking like the worst from the lot. We are sure to see a match between Show and Henry nevertheless at Survivor Series.

#2 Dean Ambrose vs Bray Wyatt

This match would be booked as a direct after-effect of Hell in a Cell where Bray Wyatt came out to end the revenge saga in an abrupt manner.

He gave out an ‘I see myself in you’ explanation for his actions on Raw and also added that Dean should think about running. This means that the feud has only started and it could easily turn out to be one of the top angles of Survivor Series.

Bray and Ambrose would not only look good throughout the buildup, but they could also deliver a psychological battle in between the ropes. The only thing that WWE should be concerned about is giving the fans a clean ending instead of botching the momentum of both the superstars.

#1 Team Authority (Kane, Seth Rollins, Randy Orton, Dust Brothers) vs Team Cena (John Cena, Chris Jericho, Dolph Ziggler, Usos)

Triple H booked this match at this week’s Raw and ensured that the fans would be seeing a traditional main event this time around, that too, a big one with huge stars and deep subplots.

No one has been confirmed for the match yet apart from John Cena but it would be safe to make some good guesses. Cena’s team would surely consist of Dolph Ziggler after the treatment he received from The Authority and the Usos seem to be a fair pick as well.

Jericho is being advertised for live events in November meaning that he would need a place somewhere in the card and this would be his best bet. As far as the Authority is concerned, Dust Brothers are favorites to fill in the remaining spots as they don’t have a good enough team to defend their title against.
