3 Alternative Feuds for the returning Undertaker other than Brock Lesnar

It's time

It’s time

After all those months of waiting and praying for Undertaker to return the moment finally seems to be arriving soon since he literally needs to come back now since there is only days left for WrestleMania.

The excitement of his return will be capped off with the choice of opponent that the WWE decides to put him up against. Several big names have been put into the mix as challengers for the streak but a clear name is yet to be revealed since Taker hasn’t made his return.

Though none has been finalized, Brock Lesnar’s name stands out from the rest as the favorite to face Taker at his own background. Though the two has locked horns in the past, the factors like Taker’s age, the newly found viciousness of Lesnar, Underdog Scenario and Paul Heyman add some more spark into the match if it eventually happens.

But apart from this predictable clash, there is still some talent in the roster that could benefit from being in the ring with Taker and could be a bigger threat to the streak than Lesnar.

So let’s take a look at alternative storylines that Taker could be put into apart from the Beast and his evil manager.

3. John Cena

To complete his career

To complete his career

Now this might be a long shot but it’s one worth taking.

In order for this one to materialize the WWE needs to end what they started at Elimination Chamber and put some sort of cap on the Bray Wyatt- John Cena situation. The best way to do that would be to give Cena a singles match against Bray Wyatt on Raw which could be ruined by Shield setting up a rematch between Wyatt Family and Shield at WrestleMania.

Cena, who will be left without any storyline after this could easily be pushed into a feud with The Undertaker because that’s the only thing that Cena hasn’t achieved after setting foot in the squared circle.

The career of John Cena will not be complete without a match against the Undertaker at WrestleMania and with the Phenom ageing with each second the WWE should clearly think about making it happen fast.

Negative reactions that Cena has been getting from a major portion of the crowd could also work in favor of the creative team as they could easily mask the fact that Taker’s return has been delayed so much.

This could also leave doubts on the streak continuing as well since Cena is a name that is destined to end it.

2. The Shield

To kill off the legacy

Ready to kill off the legacy

There has been only one handicap match in the 21 matches that Taker won at WrestleMania and that came against Big Show and Albert (Tensai, Sweet T or A- Train whatever you call him).

But a 3 on 1 match against the Shield in 2014 is bound to be an epic encounter.

Last time we saw Taker he was triple power bombed by the same hounds of justice into an announce table and Taker is not clearly someone who forgets things that easily.

After losing out to Wyatt Family at the Elimination Chamber, the Shield will also be eager to prove a point and there won’t be a better way to make a statement than taking out Undertaker his return.

These two plot points are enough to make a credible feud for both the parties as Taker would be stuck in a great underdog situation while Shield will be headlining WrestleMania.

Along with this, the recent times have seen every big name expect Daniel Bryan getting the jeers from the crowd which makes the decision to put Shield into the WrestleMania main event a safe decision.

The company could also pull off the breakup of the Shield during the match as well since each of the three men will be eager to get the pin over Undertaker. The unpredictability of the match also works well to hide the flaws of Taker which makes this one even better than the previous option. But nothing reaches a match between the Undertaker and this guy…

1. Daniel Bryan

Yes ! Yes ! Yes !

Yes ! Yes ! Yes !

Why? Because if Daniel Bryan is not in the WrestleMania main event the WWE universe is going to riot that’s why.

After being screwed out of the title scene by the authority Bryan’s only shot at headlining WrestleMania is Undertaker. For that he first needs to dispatch Kane which could be part of a business deal offered by Triple H.

In typical Triple H fashion, the game could come out and say that the Authority feels sorry for what happened to Bryan at Elimination chamber and could promise him a big favor if he beats Kane at Raw. Bryan being the warrior would easily pounce on the chance he gets to beat up Kane and would end up fighting with the big red monster.

After Bryan beats Kane, Triple H could come out and say “Well I can’t get you into the title picture but I can do what’s best for business” and leave the stage for Undertaker to make his return.

A match between Bryan and Taker is surely what all the fans deserve for sitting through all the crap that has been thrown at them by the WWE. The popularity of these two men is easily going to outclass all other matches and it also opens the door for WWE to end the streak if they want to.

So before the WWE rushes in and books Brock Lesnar in a predictable match between the Undertaker, they might want to dig deep in their roster because there are many other options that could work well for everyone involved.
