The 5 best in-ring workers on the WWE roster right now

The present roster is full of talented superstars

With the influx of stars in the WWE from promotions like TNA and NJPW, the roster is brimming with talent. Also, with the imminent return of all the injured superstars, WWE will enjoy an abundance of gifted wrestlers.

However, every star’s potential cannot be actualized with the limited opportunities and paucity of broadcasting time. A Superstar who is a complete package of quality in-ring work, great microphone skills and to top it all, the fan connect, will make the cut in the future.

Another quality that makes a great worker is their ardor and dedication towards the sport. To stay on the road for more than 300 days a year requires a lot of emotional strength.

Despite losing talents like Daniel Bryan, WWE has still has a very deep roster and boasts of some tremendously gifted workers. Let’s have a look at best workers currently available on the WWE roster:

5. Dolph Ziggler

Dolph Ziggler has been the proverbial king of the mid-card

Fans might not realize it, but, Ziggler is among the most experienced wrestlers on the current roster. From being a cheerleader in the Spirit Squad (A male cheerleading squad!!), Chavo Guerrero’s caddy, Vickie Guerrero’s boy toy and currently a diligent baby face; he has essayed multiple characters with élan.

His fan base is not as massive as some of the other baby faces in the company, but, it is a loyal fan base. Fans love him because he is a true underdog. Despite being one of the smaller guys (according to Vince that is.), he has ruled the mid-card. Even with the limited opportunities that he gets, he capitalizes on them and gives the fans a visual treat in the ring.

His rock star persona, flashy moves like the Zig-Zag and Famasser along with his penchant for high-risk spots in matches makes him a fan favorite. His hard slog and athletic ability are admirable, though, they have earned him more reverence than titles. But, without any doubt, it’s resources like him that make companies like the WWE a success.

4. Kevin Owens

KO's stock in the WWE will rise even higher if he keeps performing like only he can

Since KO has made his debut on the main roster; he has been a force to reckon with. He came to the WWE and soon became the person who would stoop to any levels to win the title belt and justify the moniker “The Prizefighter”.

His feuds with John Cena, Dean Ambrose and Sami Zayn have all been filled with action. His tenacity and aggression are unmatched in the ring. His physically unforgiving style of wrestling is a testament to his days in the promotions like CWZ, PWG and ROH. Having cut his teeth in these promotions he has acquired a distinct style on the mic as well which makes him connect with the fans instantly.

Still in his formative days in WWE, Kevin Owens’s has carved a niche for himself as one of the top most heels in the WWE. Given his charisma and talent he can be the next “anti-Cena” or he could simply the first Kevin Owens, carving his own legacy in the WWE.

3. John Cena

One might hate Cena, but he deserves all applause for shouldering the WWE for over a decade

Love him or hate him, but, you simply cannot ignore him! Super-Cena has been the face of the WWE for over a decade now. Over the past few years, he has become injury prone, but, his superhuman regeneration powers always let him make a comeback earlier than the stipulated time.

Cena is a character who is equally jeered and cheered by the fans. Even Cena acknowledges this fact during his promos and capitalizes on it to get a pop from the crowd. With a limited move set Cena has managed to churn out fabulous matches at will.

All his US Championship open challenge matches are a proof of his ability of smoothly working with wrestlers of different styles. His involvements with initiatives like B.A Star, Susan G. Komen and Make-A-Wish have also consolidated his position as the face of the company.

No matter how much WWE purists despise Cena for being the chosen one, they cannot deny the fact that Mr. Fruity Pebbles has done a laudable job of running with the torch that was once held by larger than life icons like Hulk Hogan and The Rock.

2. Dean Ambrose

Ambrose is the top heel of the future

When we talk about a superstar being a complete a package, we have to mention the “Lunatic Fringe”. He is an exceptional mix of character, experience in the squared circle and great microphone skills. If someone has to question his in ring ability and insanity, they can watch his matches with Seth Rollins, Brock Lesnar and Chris Jericho.

Since the disbanding of the Shield, Ambrose has been a brilliant solo performer. He is someone who is not affected by the booking decisions or the nature of his character and even with his idiosyncrasies are loved by the audiences.

Guys like him who can take a nasty bump, deliver promos with the right attitude and even take the pins from veterans are a rarity not only in the WWE, but, even in the industry as well.

He is a natural heel and if the WWE nurtures him, he can become what Joker is to the Batman, the arch nemesis of any top baby face of the company.

1. Seth Rollins

Rollins is the best that the WWE has on offer

“The Architect of the Shield” is unquestionably the best wrestler currently at the disposal of the WWE. Rollins has made a name for himself in the industry by being the quintessential wrestler. He plied his trade in the independent circuit and ROH before coming to the WWE in 2010 which laid a solid foundation for his success.

Rollins not only executes his move set to perfection, he also sells the moves of his opponents with equal precision. His feuds with Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Randy Orton have given us some stupendous matches which can be treated as modern classics. Also, his talent on the mic is unrivaled in the current crop of stars as he is able to rile up the audiences and generate instant heat from them.

Rollins should be praised for not letting himself get eclipsed in a strong storyline with The Authority and letting his talent do the talking for him. His rise in the Pro Wrestling Illustrated magazine's list of top professional wrestlers from #46 in 2012 to #1 in 2015 corroborates his innate gifts.

Talents like Rollins are as rare as hen’s teeth today and WWE should guard themselves against pushing the “Wrong Guy” so that the fans are able to see the Rollins potential in its full glory.

WWE has the most powerful roster of the current decade in its hands presently. Part-time superstars like Chris Jericho, Triple H and Brock Lesnar and full-time talents like Reigns, Neville and Cesaro to bolster the main roster and gloablly established stars like Finn Balor, Samoa Joe and Shinsuke Nakamura to tend to NXT the WWE environment is getting more and more exhilarating by the day.
