Britt Baker has been absent from AEW television for several months now. Despite rumors regarding her status in the Tony Khan-led promotion, The Doctor is still under contract with the company and will remain so for some time. If the All Elite head honcho decides to pull the trigger on her comeback, she could be booked to return by forming an alliance with two recently reunited babyfaces, thus creating a new faction - the latter being Anna Jay and Tay Melo.
Anna has had her hands full lately, as she has been embroiled in a rivalry with the formidable Megan Bayne and her acolyte, Penelope Ford, for several weeks now. The Queenslayer and her new ally Harley Cameron faced off against the heel duo at Double or Nothing 2025, emerging victorious at the pay-per-view. However, The Megasus and her partner retaliated by defeating Jay and Cameron in a No Disqualification match on the following episode of AEW Dynamite.
Harley was reportedly written off television due to a particularly brutal spot during the aforementioned bout, as she supposedly needed time off for an injury. Her absence left Anna open to being ambushed by Bayne and Ford, who attacked her last week at Fyter Fest. However, before Megan could deliver her finisher on Jay from the entrance stage, the latter's old tag partner, Tay Melo, finally made her much-anticipated AEW return to save her friend.
The reunited TayJay are now scheduled to face Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford this week at AEW Summer Blockbuster. Regardless of the outcome, the babyface duo could fall victim to a post-match assault from their opponents. At that point, Britt Baker could make her own All Elite Wrestling comeback and arrive to Jay and Melo's rescue. The three women, who have been with the promotion since its early days and have shared the ring several times, could then form a new unit together.
Such an angle would make sense narratively, as Bayne kickstarted her All Elite career at the expense of the promotion's long-time stars, including Thunder Rosa, Kris Statlander, Willow Nightingale, and even Toni Storm. Baker, with TayJay as her reinforcements, could therefore stand up to The Greek Goddess to put a stop to her rampage. Furthermore, Britt's last match in the company incidentally saw her defeat Bayne's teammate, Penelope Ford, a fact that could factor into the storyline.
Britt Baker received a challenge from her AEW arch-rival
Despite her continued hiatus from All Elite Wrestling programming, Britt Baker still has peers in the company who are eager to work with her upon her return. This includes her arch-nemesis Thunder Rosa, who recently issued a challenge to The DMD to face her in a hair vs. hair match at All In: Texas on a recent edition of her vlog.
La Mera Mera has faced Baker in some of the most iconic matches in AEW history, including their 2021 Unsanctioned Lights Out match and their Women's World Title bouts the following year.
