Is Luka Doncic playing tonight against the Sacramento Kings? | February 10, 2023 | 2022-23 NBA Season

Luka Doncic has not played for the Dallas Mavericks for three straight games due to an ankle injury that he picked up against the New Orleans Pelicans.

However, the 23-year old rejoined his team in Los Angeles and all signs point to him featuring in the match against the Sacramento Kings. The Dallas Mavericks are currently fourth in the Western Conference and now have a double-header against the Kings.

This weekend will also be the second time that Kyrie Irving suits up for the Dallas Mavericks. Both Doncic and Irving are capable of being the primary scorers for the Mavs and have not yet played together.

“The expectations are bigger now... We just gotta make it work and I think we will."

Luka Doncic expected to suit up against Sacramento Kings despite being listed as questionable

Luka Doncic has now missed three games after picking up an injury on February 2nd. Doncic played for less than 23 minutes and yet finished with 31 points, eight rebounds and four assists against the Pelicans. He has been in immense form this season and is one of the favorites to win the NBA MVP award.

The 23-year old is the major reason why the Dallas Mavericks find themselves in a comfortable position at fourth in the Western Conference. He has again been listed as questionable but is expected to feature to some extent. Doncic might not end up starting the game alongside Kyrie Irving but should be part of the bench.

The Dallas Mavericks had struggled in his absence this season and have a record of 2-7 without him. However, Kyrie Irving hit the ground running for the Mavericks and had 24 points, five rebounds and four assists in a comfortable victory over the LA Clippers.

Luka Doncic is close to returning and should be return to the starting lineup in the next few days.

"I don't love it. The reason I don't love it, that's very hard to stop. Everyone says 'Kyrie [Irving] needs the ball, Luka [Doncic] needs the ball'—that's true. But Kyrie can actually spot-shoot and Luka as we know, finding you."

Both him and Kyrie Irving are primary ball handlers and it will be interesting to see how head coach Jason Kidd attempts to bring out the best in the two. An improved roster is bound to help the Slovenian move up in the contention for the MVP title. He has averaged more than 33 points per game along with 8.9 rebounds and 8.2 assists this season.

Along with Irving and an impressive supporting cast, the Dallas Mavericks look to have all the tools they need to compete for a potential championship this season.
