IPL 2024 MI Squad

Mumbai Indians (MI) went into the IPL 2024 Auction with one of the most settled units. They had a purse of INR 17.75 Crores and needed 8 slots to fill. And, MI used funds to strengthen their squad. MI Squad for IPL 2024 looks very strong in bowling, batting and fielding department.

Mumbai had a brilliant IPL 2024 Auction as they snapped up the likes of Gerald Coetzee and Dilshan Madushanka to bolster their bowling units.

The MI Squad appears to be perhaps one of the strongest squads on paper ahead of the IPL 2024. The five-time champions came fourth on the points table last season and beat the Lucknow Super Giants Squads (LSG) in the Eliminator before getting knocked out by the Gujarat Titans (GT) in Qualifier 2.

One of the major weaknesses for MI has been their bowling since some time now. After releasing the likes of Jofra Archer, Jhye Richardson, Riley Meredith, they have taken strong steps to improve their bowling department by adding in Gerald Coetzee, Dilshan Madushanka and Nuwan Thusara.

Apart from this, there was a huge development in the franchise as incoming Hardik Pandya replaced Rohit Sharma as MI's skipper ahead of IPL 2024. Pandya was traded in through an all-cash deal from Gujarat by Mumbai for ₹15 crore.

Rohit, who guided Mumbai to five IPL championships in just ten years, will now play under Pandya's leadership, who won GT their maiden title in 20222.

MI Team 2024: Mumbai Indians IPL 2024 Auction Buys

Mumbai Indians desperately needed to bolster their bowling attack. Hence, they went in for some frontline pace options in Gerald Coetzee and Dilshan Madushanka, for a combined fee of less than ₹10 crore to add firepower in the MI Squad for IPL 2024.

Along with it, they purchased Shreyas Gopal and Mohammad Nabi to add support to their spin unit.

IPL 2024 Auction Rules

The 10 franchises would have to follow the following rules formulated for the IPL 2024 auction:

• Each team should spend at least 75% of their entire budget.

• Teams won't be able to use the Right to Match (RTM) card option.

• Each team can have a minimum of 18 players which can go up to no more than 25 in the squad.

• Every team needs to have at least 17 Indian players in their squad which can go up to a maximum of 25 in number.

• Each team can have a minimum of zero overseas players in their squad, which can go up to a maximum of 8 in total.

IPL 2024 Auction MI’s Purse Value

After releasing as many as 11 players from their squad, Mumbai Indians (MI) were left with ₹17.75 crores in their purse. MI had ₹15.75 in their bank after the retention list but Cameron Green’s trade out to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) added ₹2 crore to their purse. MI used ₹15 crore to trade in Hardik Pandya from GT.

IPL 2024 MI Squad Retained Players List

Before the 2024 IPL auction, Mumbai Indians Squads retained 16 players from their previous IPL squad . The list of players is as follows:

*Mumbai Indians traded in Hardik Pandya (₹ 15 crore) from Gujarat Titans and Romario Shepherd (₹ 50 lakhs) from Lucknow Super Giants as well.
