Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 271 was released on September 30, 2024, marking the climax of Gege Akutami's magnum opus. The last panel of this chapter also teased the author's next work, leaving the fandom speculating about what it could be. The fans of JJK, feeling that some characters might have not received justice in the manga, speculated that the new manga might be a spin-off.
These spin-offs could feature some fan-favorite characters, with Fushigoro Megumi likely taking center stage as the main character. He could be a character similar to Gojo Satoru (hailed as the strongest), but without the guilt that he was carrying in the author's magnum opus.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Exploring Gege Akutami's new manga as a Megumi spin-off
Fushigoro Megumi was one of the main protagonists of Jujutsu Kaisen and also a student of Gojo Satoru. Despite having the potential to become one of the best-written characters in the series, his character was under-utilized and his only ambition was to save his sister, Tsumiki Fushigoro.
Sadly, he couldn't even achieve that because an ancient cursed spirit (Yorozu) awakened inside her. Sukuna took over Megumi's body during the Culling Game arc and she was eventually killed through the Ten Shadows Technique (Megumi's cursed technique) and Megumi fell into despair.
Other than this, he couldn't even say his thanks to his savior, Gojo Satoru, who took him in after his father (Toji Fushigoro) died. So, his character couldn't be explored to its full potential due to him carrying all the guilt.
However, if Gege Akutami is to return in the future with a new spin-off manga, he could give Fushigoro Megumi redemption by making him a character devoid of any regrets. Firstly, in the new manga spin-off based on the Jujutsu Kaisen character,
Fushigoro Megumi would be the strongest sorcerer (something he could have achieved in the original manga through his Ten Shadow Technique). More importantly, he would have no regrets or guilt associated with Tsumiki and the related. This way, his character development, and the fandom would be satisfied to their fullest.
Analysis and final thoughts
Realistically, there are very low chances of Fushigoro Megumi receiving a spin-off as he ended the tale of with chapter 271. Moreover, it wouldn't be fair to the other characters like Ryomen Sukuna because the author didn't put light on the majority of characters, meaning that other characters might also have some guilt that held back their true potential.
His future manga project might be a horror manga, similar to his magnum opus, but with some unique twists. Moreover, as the author stated in an interview before, he could also go for an idol twist on a horror manga because he wanted to draw this genre before he started his magnum opus. For now, it is advised to just wait for the author's return and see what he brings for the masses this time.
