Boruto Two Blue Vortex chapter 9 has recently come out, and there have been a lot of discussions online regarding the return of Kurama to the story. Many within the Naruto and Boruto fandoms have thus expressed their opinions on the powerful Tailed Beast, with some arguing that it should not have returned and others believing that the current events make sense within the established lore.

At this juncture, it's worth noting that this may not be the Kurama most people are familiar with. Nonetheless, the current Boruto Two Blue Vortex twist is something that can have a lot of ramifications in the story moving forward, particularly with regards to the characters of Naruto, Himawari, and Jura.

Explaining why the Kurama introduced in Boruto Two Blue Vortex chapter 9 might not be the one everyone is familiar with

The cliffhanger of chapter 9 of the manga shows Himawari in the Jinchuriki world talking with a smaller version of Kurama, prompting discussions among fans. Many people are curious about Kurama's role in the series, while others believe his arrival diminishes the character's sacrifice to help Naruto with the Baryon Mode.

However, some fans have pointed out that, as evident from the size difference between the two Nine Tails, Himawari's beast is not the same as her father's. It has been established since the Shippuden days of the franchise that a Tailed Beast can reincarnate because they are an amalgamation of chakra. Therefore, it makes sense that Kurama came back.

The confusion of the two Kuramas being the same arises from Naruto inheriting Kushina's Nine Tails directly and not a reincarnation of it. However, the two situations are different. Kurama was forcefully taken out of Kushina and then sealed back inside Naruto, while Himawari met her Nine Tails on the Bijuu plane long after Naruto's Kurama had perished.

Therefore, it stands to reason that, unlike her father, Himawari was bestowed with a reincarnation of Nine Tails and not the same one. It would be up to author Masashi Kishimoto to explain how Himawari became a Jinchuriki and what is going to be the role of this New-Tailed Beast in the story moving forward.

The ramifications of bringing Kurama back into the story

Now that Kurama has been confirmed to be alive once again and Himawari is his new Jinchuriki, it means that she is poised to have a very prominent role in Boruto Two Blue Vortex. Jura has put a target on her back and is going after her, so it is going to be interesting to see what happens to Himawari and if Boruto is going to be able to protect her.

Furthermore, the return of Kurama could have ramifications for Naruto as a character if he does come back into the story. And Himawari's abilities and potential could be unlocked with this new revelation, although that is something that is yet to be confirmed. However, there is enough evidence to suggest that could be the case.

Final thoughts

Readers of the Boruto Two Blue Vortex manga need to understand that the new Kurama that was introduced in chapter 9 is not the same that was sealed within Naruto during most of the franchise. This is a reincarnation of Kurama, which tends to happen with Tailed Beasts when they die since they are amalgamations of chakra throughout the world.
