Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 has been a massive hit so far and one of the most popular characters has been Toji Fushiguro, so manga readers are already looking forward to his short reunion with his son Megumi in the Shibuya Incident arc. While this moment has been celebrated multiple times by the fandom, several translations of the manga have had issues expressing Toji's feelings towards his son.

This is because the Japanese language, like many other languages, has terms that don't fully translate to other tongues, and that is why Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 has a chance to fix that situation.

This is a very important moment because it is the only time that father and son get a chance to interact with one another and fans would like MAPPA to get this right.

Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 could fix the translation issues of Toji's final words to Megumi

As most anime-only viewers know by now, Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 has already shown the part where Toji Fushiguro was brought back to life through a Cursed Technique during the Shibuya Incident arc. And as most manga readers know, Toji goes on a rampage, fighting a couple of opponents and showing his physical superiority to the rest, although there is a major moment they are looking forward to.

Toji eventually runs into Megumi and the two have a battle, with the former overpowering the latter, although the father realizes that this is his son. After realizing this, Toji asks Megumi what is his last name, to which the latter says is Fushiguro, leaving the former filled with pride. He then takes his own life as he no longer has any worries.

Several English translations have struggled to accurately capture Toji's final words, with the usual translation being "Good for you". However, some Japanese interpretations have led to the conclusion that it means that he is glad or relieved, which goes to show a lot more care and concern for his own son.

Due to Toji and Megumi having a very complex relationship, most fans hope MAPPA do this moment justice as they have done with the vast majority of the series thus far.

Analyzing Megumi and Toji's relationship

Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 did Toji Fushiguro a lot of justice in terms of characterization and how his feats were animated, but a lot of fans were also intrigued by his relationship with his son, Megumi. While it seems that Toji did have some love and care for Megumi, he was an estranged father who walked out on them during the final years of his life, which led to his son not caring about him.

In that regard, it is hard to see them having a normal and stable father-son relationship if they ever met properly. However, based on principle, Toji never wanted Megumi to end up like him, which is why he was happy to see that he had Cursed Energy, and was thus not being abused by the Zen'in clan like he was. He was also pleased that Megumi was using his mother's last name, Fushiguro.

While it seems that Toji had admitted to himself that he was a mess after his wife's passing, thus walking away from his family, he still had some love for Megumi. This is shown in his final moments when fighting Satoru Gojo in the Hidden Inventory, as his final thoughts went to Megumi and his deceased wife, proving that, even at the end, he still had them in his mind, despite all the mistakes he made.

Final thoughts

Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 made Toji even more of a fan-favorite and most manga readers are now anticipating that big moment with his son. While the words he used may or may not be the same as the source material, most fans simply want it to be a good moment above all else.
