Kagurabachi chapter 49 was released on Monday, September 16, 2024, at 12 am JST in Weekly Shonen Jump's 42nd issue. The chapter sees Chihiro's battle against Hirohiko unfold, where the latter demonstrates his origami-based sorcery powers against the Enten-user. During the confrontation, Chihiro makes a tough decision to ensure he can fight the Hishaku member properly.

The previous chapter saw Chihiro Rokuhira reveal to Yoji Uruha the truth about the weapons he witnessed at the Kokugoku Sanzo. On the other hand, the Kokugoku Steam Squad defeated the wave of Datenseki-equipped assassins. However, Hirohiko, a Hishaku member annihilated them and boarded the train where Chihiro, Uruha, and Hakuri were on.

Kagurabachi chapter 49: Chihiro vs. Hirohiko continues as Uruha urges the Enten-user to go full-throttle

Kagurabachi chapter 49, titled Deadlock, kicks off with Chihiro observing Hirohiko and his guards. He doesn't remember seeing the Hishaku member on the day the organization killed his father. He asks the sorcerer what he intends to do. Hirohiko promptly answers Rokuhira that he wishes to kill Uruha and negate the Eternal Contract.

The sorcerer also adds how effortlessly he eliminated the Kokugoku Steam Squad, who wanted to bid Uruha a proper goodbye. Chihiro understands Hirohiko's threat, considering he killed a group that defeated the Datenseki-equipped assassins. Following that, Kagurabachi chapter 49 switches to Yoji Uruha, who eliminates a guard.

The sorcerer tells Chihiro to focus on the real threat. Uruha's words remind Chihiro of his purpose and he cloaks himself with Nishiki to battle Hirohiko and his hired assassins. Likewise, Hirohiko reveals his origami-based sorcery power, Blood Crane.

The Hishaku member's sorcery skill forms origami papers in the shape of cranes, which he hurls toward Chihiro. At the same time, other assassins charge at him. Interestingly, Hirohiko's blood cranes pierce through their body and splatter blood on Chihiro's eyes to blur his visions.

Hirohiko takes that opportunity to charge at the Enten-user with his own blade. Kagurabachi chapter 49 then showcases Chihiro telling Hakuri that he's going to do a "Centipede." The Enten-user demonstrates his Kuor in the form of a shockwave, akin to Kyora Sazanami's move from the Rakuzaichi arc.

Hakuri grabs Uruha's ponytail and ducks to save him from the attack's impact. Meanwhile, Yoji Uruha realizes he will only hold back Chihiro from showcasing his true powers against Hirohiko.

Thus, he shouts at Chihiro, requesting him not to worry about him anymore. He urges the boy to fully concentrate on Hirohiko. The narrative for Kagurabachi chapter 49 then shows Chihiro Rokuhira stabbing Hirohiko with his blade, and leaping out of the train's window.

The sorcerer asks Chihiro if it's fine to leave Uruha inside. While the boy knows it's not ideal, he can't take the risk of having Uruha around. Moreover, he wants to turn the perception of the power differentials in their favor.

Kagurabachi chapter 49: Chihiro reveals his plans to gain the upper hand against Hishaku

The narrative for Kagurabachi chapter 49 explains the power levels of Kamunabi and Hishaku. Chihiro knows that Hishaku has many disposable assassins, who can use Datenseki to acquire Enchanted-Blade-like powers.

Compared to them, the Kamunabi has personnel with Enchanted Blade-like prowess. Moreover, they aren't disposable like the hired assassins. Likewise, both Hishaku and Kamunabi have skilled fighters without any Enchanted Blades.

In other words, Kagurabachi chapter 49 reveals that both Kamunabi and Hishaku have almost the same level of personnel and powers. If Chihiro can defeat Hirohiko, the power differential will tilt in their favor.

Aside from eliminating the Hishaku sorcerer, Chihiro wants Hakuri and Uruha to reach the Senkutsuji Temple to meet the next bearer of the Eternal Contract. The Enten-user knows they can break the deadlock if Hakuri regains access to his Storehouse and uses it to retrieve the Stolen Blades.

It will ensure that Uruha and the other Enchanted Blade's contract bearer regain their ability to demonstrate their sorcery powers. After that, Kagurabachi chapter 49 focuses on Chihiro's battle against Hirohiko.

The Hishaku sorcerer feels he and Chihiro can fully showcase their powers since the latter doesn't have anyone to protect right now. Moreover, he wants to see more of Chihiro, after hearing so much about him from Yura, the Hishaku's leader. However, Hirohiko reveals they won't be alone.

Kagurabachi chapter 49 then shows the Hishaku sorcerer revitalizing the fallen guards with Datenseki. The chapter ends with Chihiro facing not only Hirohiko but also the Anti-Enten Squad comprised of several Datenseki-equipped assassins.
