My Hero Academia season 7's hype is over the roof as Studio Bones is doing a magnificent job animating the final war. Twice's quirk is the talk of the town nowadays after Toga used his quirk to deliver the Sad Man's Death Parade against the heroes. However, this move spread misconceptions regarding Twice's quirk within the fandom.
Although the fandom thinks of it as a quirk that can produce infinite twins, a lot of conditions need to be fulfilled before this becomes a reality. The biggest limitation is how Twice needs to know about the exact measurements of his opponent to clone him. Moreover, the more clones produced, the weaker they get than the original, making the "limitless" quirk not look like much.
My Hero Academia: Exploring the limits of Twice's quirk
Jin Bubaigawara (Villain Name: Twice) was one of the members of the League of Villains and one of the lieutenants of the Paranormal Liberation Front. He was known for his duel personality, which he couldn't hold back from without his mask.
Twice's quirk was Double, which allowed him to produce multiple copies of anything through touch, starting from producing two copies. This quirk proved vital for the League of Villains on any battlefield. It gave the League enough manpower to fight when needed and become a strong enough shield to flee
The peak of 'Double' was witnessed during the Meta Liberation Army Arc of My Hero Academia when Twice created thousands of copies of himself through his clones, which resulted in a swarm of clones titled the Sad Man's Parade. In the next arc of My Hero Academia, Twice was killed by Pro Hero Hawks because 'Double' was becoming a quirk that could become fatal in the future.
While the fandom thinks the working of Twice's quirk is really easy, the reality is quite different. The first condition to 'Double' is that the user can only copy the appearance of their opponent through precise measurements of their body. Even if the measurement is a bit mismatched, the resulting clone will be a blob of grey matter that has no potential to fight.
Moreover, Twice can only produce two clones at a time, and these clones further increase their numbers. The durability of clones starts to decrease with the increasing number. For example, the last clone that Twice produces could die through its own impact.
Interestingly, if Twice had the measurements of a certain person who undergoes an injury, the previous measurements wouldn't work, and he would have to take them again, showcasing the link between reality and Double. Twice has copied a lot of people like Toga, Shigaraki, and many others, but his Sad Man's Parade is restricted to producing his own clones.
Why Toga perfects Twice's quirk
During the final war arc, Toga drank Twice's blood, which he had stored in one of her vials, and launched his Sad Man's Parade. However, she took it to the next level using her emotions.
Using her emotions, every clone of Twice expressed anger, killing everything that came in its way. This move was titled Sad Man's Death Parade. Moreover, using her Transform quirk, some of Twice's clones were transformed into heroes, the ones Toga had ingested the blood of, adding some powerhouses to her march. This move was titled Sad Man's Legion.
