On Tuesday, June 10, 2025, the film critics in the Hollywood Creative Alliance announced Dragon Ball Daima anime to have won the Best Anime Series at the Astra TV Awards 2025. The Toei Animation series won the award against some big-name titles released in the past year.
Dragon Ball Daima, written by the late creator Akira Toriyama, is an original Dragon Ball anime produced by Toei Animation. The series was set after the events of Dragon Ball Z and before the events of Dragon Ball Super. The anime aired between October 2024 and February 2025.
Dragon Ball Daima wins Best Anime Series at Astra TV Awards 2025
On Tuesday, June 10, 2025, the film critics in the Hollywood Creative Alliance announced Toei Animation's Dragon Ball Daima anime to have won the Best Anime Series at the Astra TV Awards 2025. With that, the Toei Animation series became only the second anime ever to win the award.
The other nominees for the award were The Apothecary Diaries season 2, Dandadan season 1, Fire Force season 3, Lazarus, and Solo Leveling season 2 -Arise from the Shadow-.

Besides the Best Anime Series award, Stephanie Nadolny was nominated for her role as Son Goku (Mini) for the Best Lead Voice-Over Performance. Aleks Le won the award for his performance as Sung Jinwoo in the Solo Leveling Season 2 -Arise from the Shadow- anime.
The other nominees included Alex Borstein – Family Guy Holiday Special, Johnny Yong Bosch – Devil May Cry, Kaley Cuoco – Harley Quinn, and Seth MacFarlane – Family Guy Holiday Special.
Fans' reaction to Dragon Ball Daima being crowned the Best Anime Series
Most anime fans were elated to learn that Dragon Ball Daima won the award. With that, they expressed how the Dragon Ball franchise was at the top of all anime since the 1990s, possibly making it the greatest franchise.

Some fans even took the opportunity to thank the franchise's original creator, Akira Toriyama, for giving them one final series before his death.
"DB running the game since the 90s and it ain’t even close," one fan said.
"Thank You Toriyama Sensei for the masterpiece," another fan added.
"I can already hear the One Piece fans crying," other fan said.
Meanwhile, other fans used this opportunity to mock One Piece fans. According to them, One Piece fans mocked Dragon Ball fans after the anime failed to get nominated under any category for the Crunchyroll Anime Awards.
However, now that One Piece had not won a single award and Dragon Ball Daima won the Best Anime Series at the Astra Awards, fans made sure not to let go of this opportunity.
