Watari's XX Is on the Brink of Collapse anime confirms July 2025 release date, theme songs, and more with 2 new PVs

On Thursday, June 12, 2025, the official website and X account of Watari's XX Is on the Brink of Collapse anime unveiled its second and third promotional videos. As per the short clips, the series is set to premiere on July 5, 2025. Furthermore, the staff unveiled a new key visual and announced additional cast as well.

Watari's XX Is on the Brink of Collapse anime is based on the eponymous Japanese manga series by Naru Narumi. The manga was initially serialized in Kadokawa Shoten's Young Ace Magazine from August 2014 to June 2015. Later, it was moved to Kodansha's Monthly Young Magazine, where it ran from November 2015 to September 2023, releasing a total of 16 tankobon volumes.

Watari's XX Is on the Brink of Collapse anime's new trailers confirm July 5, 2025, release date

According to the new promotional videos from the official staff, Watari's XX Is on the Brink of Collapse anime will air new episodes every Saturday at 1 AM JST on Tokyo MX, starting July 5, 2025 (stylized as July 4, 2025, at 25:00 JST). The series will also air on Sun TV, BS Nippon Television, TV Kanagawa, and AT-X at different times. Meanwhile, Crunchyroll will stream the anime series internationally.

Prior to the television broadcast, the anime will show its first two episodes at an advanced screening event at United Cinema Aquacity Odaiba in Tokyo. The event will be supplemented with a cast talk show, featuring the voice cast members of Satsuki, Yukari, and Suzushiro.

The two new promotional videos feature the male protagonist, Naoto, and his friends. The second official PV reveals and previews the opening theme song, I Want to Be a Ghost (Yuurei ni Naritai) by Yuika, while the third trailer reveals and previews Pedro's ending theme, Ai Ai Ai Ai Ai. Notably, the third PV is way shorter than the second one.

A new key visual for Watari's XX Is on the Brink of Collapse anime has also been unveiled. Drawn by Sachiko Yasuda, the illustration depicts Yukari and Makina leading Naoto Watari outside. The visual also features Satsuki and Shigenobu in the background.

Coming to the additional cast members, Megu Umezawa has joined the show's voice cast as Makina Umezawa, Naoto's classmate from Junior High School. Meanwhile, Yoshiki Nakajima stars as Shigenobu Tokui, one of Naoto's friends, while Hinaki Yano lends her voice to Suzushiro Watari, Naoto's younger sister.

The previously announced main cast for the Watari's XX Is on the Brink of Collapse anime are:

• Yumika Yano as Satsuki Tachibana

As for the staff, Takashi Naoya directs the rom-com anime at Staple Entertainment, with Matsuo Asami in charge as the assistant director. Tatsuya Takahashi handles the scripts, while Tetsuya Yamada and Takashi Naoya are writing the screenplay.

Shoko Yasuda is the character designer as well as the chief animation director, along with Taeko Ogi, Yukiyo Komito, and Toshimitsu Kobayashi. Meanwhile, Ken Muramatsu is in charge of the series music.

Based on the original manga series, Watari's XX Is on the Brink of Collapse anime centers on Naoto Watari, a high school student who lives with his younger sister, Suzushiro, at their aunt's house. Naoto is incredibly devoted to Suzushiro to the point that he gives up on part-time jobs, dating, and even friendships.

However, one day, Naoto's life changes when his childhood friend, Satsuki Tachibana, transfers to his school. He then recalls the horrific moments he shared with Satsuki in the past. The series will follow Naoto's story as he gets manipulated by three women: his sister, his childhood friend, and his admired classmate.
