As mentioned earlier, Sakamoto Days manga chapter 216 was highly anticipated by the fans as it was a followup from the previous chapter that ended with showing Shin being slit in the throat by Kei Uzuki. While many fans anticipated that Shin would die, Suzuki pulled the "Tunnel Effect" and showed him to be alive, leading several fans to start a debate online.

While many fans were worried about the series' deuteragonist's fate, the introduction of Atari coming to save him at the last moment and using the "Tunnel Effect" led a lot of fans to question the mangaka's choices and use of plot armor to save Shin from the life-threatening slash.

Furthermore, introducing Atari into the mix and making her use the last bit of luck she had left also left the fans questioning the mangaka's choices. Some even compared him to Tatsuki Fujimoto, from Chainsaw Man, particularly to his trait of killing off characters in the series, especially those who are an integral part of the story.

With Atari presenting the choice to Shin to kill her, mentioning that Shin was caught in the middle of her bad luck, the comparison of the fans started to make sense. However, by the end of the chapter, Shin refuses Atari's request and decides to find another way out of the situation, which is yet to be seen in the upcoming Sakamoto Days manga chapters.
