Dante Dowdell is an American college football player who most recently committed to the Nebraska Cornhuskers as one of the top-rated running backs. Dowdell started his football career at Picayune Memorial High School where he led his school to back-to-back MHSAA 5A state championships and was also named MHSAA 5A Mr. Football during his senior year. A four-year letter winner at Picayune, Dowdell rushed for 5,301 yards and 65 touchdowns during his prep career. Dowdell was ranked the No.6 running back in the nation by 247Sports in the 2023 recruiting class and was a consensus five-star recruit from Mississippi. Dowdell embarked on his collegiate football journey with Oregon Ducks despite considering offers from top programs like Arkansas, Arkansas State, Boston College, Cincinnati, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Penn State, Kentucky, and Texas A&M.
Coming out of high school, Dowdell was rated the No.88 overall player and was one of the top running backs in the history of Mississippi high school football. In his freshman season, Dowdell saw action in only six games and rushed for 90 yards and one touchdown with 17 carries.
