Who will be the best batsman of the World Cup?

The 12th edition of ICC Cricket World Cup, which is underway in England and Wales will enter its final phase this week. As the semi-final stage is approaching, the World Cup most runs leaderboard has seen a lot of movement as each batsman is trying his best to take his team over the line.

The world is excited to see which batsman will win the title of scoring the most runs in this year’s World Cup. Currently, Rohit Sharma is at the top of the ladder with Australia’s David Warner and Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan occupying number 2 and number 3 respectively.

However, we can expect seasoned pros like Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson to do well in the knockouts and try to win this award. Here are the 3 batsmen who are the favourites to win the title:

Rohit Sharma (India)

Matches - 8, Innings - 8, Runs - 647

Rohit Sharma has been leading the Indian batting line-up in this year’s World Cup. The star player has already registered 5 centuries in this tournament and, has 647 runs to his name at a mind-boggling average of 92.42.

The Hitman would wish to continue his form in the must-win semifinal game against New Zealand. He could take an early charge against the Kiwi bowlers as the Indian team will have to post a gigantic total if India bats first. If the things go in his favour, then he could easily clinch the title of scoring the most runs in the tournament.

David Warner (Australia)

David Warner has silenced his critics with his terrific form.

Matches - 9, Innings - 9, Runs - 638

David Warner has stunned everyone with his supreme form after serving a 1-year ban from international cricket. This showcases the pure talent which he possesses. The returning star had an aggregate of 638 runs in the group stage matches. Warner will try to continue his purple patch in the 2nd round.

Warner will try to hammer the English bowlers as he has been in great touch so far in the World Cup. He may overtake the leading run scorer, Rohit Sharma if Australia wins the semifinal and India do not.

Kane Williamson (New Zealand)

Matches - 8, Innings - 7, Runs - 481

Kane Williamson has been the leading run scorer for New Zealand in 2019 ICC World Cup. The Kiwi skipper has been performing brilliantly in the batting department besides handling the team’s reins.

As the Black Caps had defeated India in the practice match of this tournament, they would look to stay positive inspite of their poor form in the last few games. New Zealand will require a special batting effort from skipper Williamson to get over the line.

Jasprit Bumrah will be the biggest threat to Kane but if the right-handed batsman sees Bumrah off, then there's no reason why he can't score a big one against India.

Wild Card to win the title - Virat Kohli from India (441 runs from 8 matches) and Aaron Finch from Australia (507 runs from 9 matches)
