The upcoming Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is a celebration of Borderlands 2's acclaimed fantasy-themed DLC. The 2013 expansion, titled Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep, introduced fans to the world of Bunkers & Badasses (BnB). This is a Dungeons & Dragons-inspired rendition of Borderlands's own in-game tabletop RPG.

Dragon Keep featured the usual Borderlands humor, but with several classic Borderlands characters making an appearance. Like Roland, the playable Vault hunter is now an NPC serving Queen Butt Stallion (who is antagonist Handsome Jack's pet pony in the Borderlands world).

We already know about the handful of returning faces among the cast of new characters like Brick, Claptrap and Mr. Torgue, but what about others? Here are five characters that fans would love to see make return in Tiny Tina's Wonderlands.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is a result of titular Tiny's imagination, so anything is possible

5) Troy and Tyreen

It's true that Borderlands 3's twin villains are some of the worst written NPCs in the entire franchise. They also pale in comparison to the previous antagonist, Handsome Jack.

So why should they make a comeback? Because Tiny Tina's Wonderlands seems like a great opportunity to experiment. Developer Gearbox Software can polish their shallow personalities and give them some depth that was missing from the predecessor.

Maybe they could even be good guys this time around, who knows?

4) Tales from the Borderlands' characters (Rhys/Vaughn/Fiona)

The Borderlands franchise saw an unexpected release in the form of Tales from the Borderlands. This 2014 point & click adventure game was developed by the narrative geniuses at Telltale Games in collaboration with Gearbox themselves.

The partnership resulted in a game that's one of the best offerings from either studios.

It featured brand new characters, Rhys and Fiona, on an adventure across the planet of Pandora. Borderlands 3 sees Rhys become the CEO of weapons manufacturer Atlas. His close friend Vaugh made an appearance in Borderlands 2's Commander Lilith and the Fight for Sanctuary DLC.

It would be great to see them return in Tiny Tina's Wonderlands to flesh out their characters further.

3) BALEX

Voiced by American rapper Ice-T, BALEX is easily one of Borderlands 3's best characters. BALEX is a Tedoire-manufactured AI and is introduced in the Family Jewel mission. His design is amazing as a teddy stuck in the body of a robot and his humor matches Tina to perfection.

2) Borderlands 3's Vault Hunters

Moze, FL4K (pronounced as Flak), Amara and Zane are the playable Vault Hunters in the latest Borderlands installment. Other Vault Hunters have made an appearance in the previous BnB adventure, like Brick and Roland. So it only makes sense for the newest gang to play a part in Tiny Tina's Wonderlands as well.

Perhaps FL4K could stick to his role of a wandering hunter by taking on he role of a traveling merchant? Amara could be the typical forgesmith, using her powers to help out those in need of offense and defense.

Zane could be an assassin, keeping in line with his tactical gameplay style. Moze could be a loud and brash warrior, controlling a medieval automaton that bears more than a passing resemblance to her Ion Bear mech.

1) Maya

During the events of Borderlands 3, things went awry at the Vault on Promethea. Vault Hunter Maya and her student Ava come across the villains after beating the Rampager boss.

Ava's foolishness gets her into trouble, leading to Maya jumping in to save her, which eventually gets the Siren killed as Troy sucks away her lifeforce. All the while, the Vault Hunter stood by doing nothing; Gearbox's sloppy handling of the writing on display again.

This got a lot of backlash from the community, with the majority citing the death sequence as mere shock value. While Gearbox can't change things it at this point, they can do better by giving the late Siren a role in Tiny Tina's Wonderlands.

That was the entire concept of the Dragon Keep DLC after all - Tina creating up an RPG campaign to deal with the death of Borderlands 1's Roland.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands drops on March 25, 2022 for PC, PS4, XB1, PS5 and XSX|S.
