Top 10 Goalkeepers in FIFA 16

FIFA 16 top goalkeepers
Both Iker Casillas and David De Gea are in the list of Top 10 FIFA 16 goalkeepers

While the much awaited FIFA 16 is yet to be released, a lot of fans of the gaming series seem pleased with what they have seen so far in the demo. From what is seen in the new game, one of the most remarkable features is the realistic feel of the game.

In previous versions of FIFA, goalkeepers were able to catch the ball with ease regardless of the pace at which it came towards them. But in FIFA 16, goalkeepers will find it more difficult to catch the ball if the shot is too powerful. Another improvement is that they are able to use their entire body to get in the way of the ball and prevent it from going into the back of the net.

While there are a few new players in the top 10 list, it means that a few others have dropped out of the list as well. Here is a list of the top 10 goalkeepers in FIFA 16.

#10: Joe Hart – Manchester City

FIFA 15 rating: 82

The Premier League golden glove winner’s rating was raised by 1 this year. Joe Hart has the most Golden Gloves in the Premier League, after he won his fourth award last season.

#9: Samir Handanovic – Inter Milan

FIFA 15 rating: 83

Handanovic’s rating has managed to the stay the same as it was last year after he kept 11 clean sheets for the Nerazzurri. He was one of the key people responsible for Inter Milan managing to finish eighth in the league and is one of the highest rated goalkeepers in the Serie A.

#8: Iker Casillas – FC Porto

FIFA 15 rating: 84

The Spanish international, after having a disastrous exit from his childhood club Real Madrid, is playing for FC Porto this season. The World Cup winner who managed to finish last season trophyless was fortunate to keep his rating from last season and to make it into the top 10 list of goalkeepers in FIFA 16.

Casillas would be the highest rated goalkeeper in the Primeira Liga this year.

#7: Gianluigi Buffon – Juventus

FIFA 15 rating: 82

The Italian player who recently made a record number of appearances for the national team has improved his rating by 2 points. Buffon had a brilliant season last year when he managed to win the Serie A after keeping 18 clean sheets, and reach the Champions League finals.

He is the highest rated Serie A goalkeeper in the game.

#6: Hugo Lloris – Tottenham Hotspur

FIFA 15 rating: 85

Hugo Lloris who dropped a point from last season has managed to stay in the top 10 list. The Tottenham player was not outstanding in the 2014/15 season but managed to stay consistent throughout the season – which is probably why the drop was not so big.

#5: Bernd Leno – Bayer Leverkusen

FIFA 15 rating: 82

The Bayer Leverkusen player who had only managed to scrape into the top 20 list last season has found a place in the top 5 in FIFA 16. The German was only one clean sheet behind Manuel Neuer in the race for the Bundesliga Golden glove last season.

Seeing as the player is only 23 years old, he has a very bright future ahead of him.

#4: Petr Cech – Arsenal

FIFA 15 rating: 85

The Czech goalkeeper left Chelsea for league rivals Arsenal this season, and would be looking to do his best for the Gunners. After playing a bit-part role for the Premier League champions last season, he managed to keep the same rating as he did last season even though he was overshadowed by Belgian youngster Thibaut Courtois.

#3: Thibaut Courtois – Chelsea FC

FIFA 15 rating: 86

Thibaut Courtois, like Cech, has the same rating as he did in FIFA 15. Playing a major role for the Premier League winning team, it was always expected. However, the Belgian will miss a few weeks of the season after having a surgery on his knee.

#2: David De Gea – Manchester United

FIFA 15 rating: 83

David de Gea is the biggest shock in FIFA 16, as he took the highest jump in ratings amongst the top flight goalkeepers. The player’s rating has improved by a full 3 points.

After having a horrific transfer saga where Real Madrid missed the opportunity to sign him, the Spaniard will continue to play at Manchester United after he signed a new 4-year deal with the Old Trafford club.

#1: Manuel Neuer – FC Bayern Munich

The Bundesliga winner’s rating has not changed from last season and is still 90. Seeing Neuer top the list is not that big of a surprise though, as it was always known that the German international is the best shot-stopper in the world at the moment. Another interesting fact is that both the German goalkeepers in the list have a four-star weak foot rating.
