#3 Jorginho (Chelsea)

Chelsea v Leicester City - Premier League

N'Golo Kante was touted for the Ballon d'Or a few months ago, but his Chelsea teammate Jorginho is among the favorites to win the prestigious award right now.

Jorginho has endured a peculiar Chelsea career. Signed from Napoli for £51.3 million in 2018, the 29-year-old has had his ups and downs with the Premier League giants. For some time last summer, Jorginho looked set to depart Chelsea, with Juventus and Barcelona linked.

Now, the midfielder is a UEFA Champions League and European Championship winner and is widely regarded as one of the best in the world in his position. The Italy international's performances, especially during the second-half of last season, earned plaudits. He was arguably Italy's best player as they won the Euro 2020. Jorginho now looks undroppable for both club and country.

#2 Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich)

One of the best players in the world, Robert Lewandowski has been consistently brilliant for Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich acquiring Lewandowski on a free transfer in 2014 has to go down as one of the best deals in the history of the sport. The Poland international is the best striker in world football and a prolific goalscorer who is well-known for his technical ability and athleticism.

The 33-year-old is getting better with age. Lewandowski was the best player in the world in 2020, when he helped Bayern Munich won the treble. He is the Bundesliga giants' most important player.

#1 Lionel Messi (Paris Saint-Germain)

Lionel Messi is yet to make his debut for Paris Saint-Germain, as his fans eagerly wait to see him play once again.

One of the greatest players of all time was signed by Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer. Messi controversially departed Barcelona this month, and the Ligue 1 giants were quick to capitalize, signing the Argentine superstar with a little help from Neymar.

Messi's final season with Barcelona could have gone better. The 34-year-old was at his brilliant best as usual, but the club struggled. Messi was the best player at Copa America 2021, a tournament his country won. It will be interesting to see how he combines with the likes of Kylian Mbappe and former Barcelona teammate Neymar in Paris.
